The Aircel-Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) has announced the Haryana Open 2009 presented by HUDA and DLF, which will be played at the Panchkula Golf Club from September 24 to 27 September, 2009. A cash prize of Rs. 30 lakh is a stake.
The second edition of the Haryana Open will feature a strong field with the likes of Mukesh Kumar, Anirban Lahiri, Ashok Kumar, C Muniyappa, Vijay Kumar, Shamim Khan, Harendra Gupta and Harmeet Kahlon, to name a few, teeing it up for top honours at the scenic Panchkula Golf Club.
Haryana Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary and Vice President of Panchkula Golf Club, D. S. Dhesi said, “We are delighted to hold the prestigious Haryana Open at the Panchkula Golf Club. The Haryana Open will not only promote golf in this region but will also help us work towards our objective of developing the course at the Panchkula Golf Club into one of the premier championship courses of the country.”
Commenting on the playing conditions, Brig. I. S. Punia (Retd.), General Manager, Panchkula Golf Club, added, “The course has been specially prepared, after the heavy rains, for the ensuing professional golf tournament.”
Mr. Padamjit Sandhu, Director, PGTI, said, “Our sincere thanks to HUDA & DLF for their strong and continued support for professional golf in India. The Haryana Open made a successful debut last year, and we are confident that our partnership with HUDA & the Panchkula Golf Club will help develop the event over the years and nurture talent in the state.”
Panchkula Golf Club, situated on the Ambala-Panchkula-Kalka-Shimla Highway, and spread over an area of 135 acres is one of the premier championship courses in north India. It is situated at an alluring location on the banks of the river Ghaggar. The backdrop of the Shivalik Hills lends a picturesque view to the course.
