HSWC organizes three-day training camp

Haryana Warehousing Corporation (HWC) is operating storage capacity of 17.01 lac MTs through a network of 107 warehouses in the State. The Corporation has recently recruited about 200 employees in September, 2009 after a gap of nearly 22 years.
In order to augment the skills of new recruits, the Corporation has organized a three-day short term training program on Storage Management and Skill Development for the newly recruited Junior Technical Assistants and Godown Keepers. This training program is being held at Regional Institute of Co-operative Management, Sector 32, Chandigarh from 14-16th December, 2009.
The training program was inaugurated by Mr Roshan Lal, I.A.S., Financial Commissioner & Principal Secretary to Govt., Haryana, Agriculture Dept. –cum Chairman, HWC.
While complimenting the Managing Director, HWC for taking initiative to conduct this training, he stressed upon the need to make it a regular feature. The Chairman, HWC specifically laid stress on the role of Junior Technical Assistants and Godown Keepers in the preservation of stocks stored in the warehouses and national food security. Dr. Ashok Khemka, I.A.S., Managing Director, H.W.C. welcomed the trainees and explained the impact of such training in the career progression of employees.
The domain of training is the scientific storage and skill development in the trainees. 110 trainees, including 37Juniort Technical Assistants and 73 godown keepers, from different warehouses are attending the training. The list of speakers includes senior officers from the Corporation and experts from Central Warehousing Corporation. Prof. Mrs V. Mohan, (Retd. Head of Dept., Psychology Dept., Punjab University, Chandigah).also delivered lecture on leadership, Behavioral science, Motivation & Management.
Mr AK Gulati, Advisor(Proc. & Storage), HWC explained the importance of scientific storage and different precautions to be taken while receiving, preserving during storage and delivery of stocks from the godowns of HWC.
On the second day of training, the trainees will be apprised about the various provisions contained in Warehousing Corporation Act,1962 by Dr. Ashok Khemka, I.A.S., Managing Director, HWC. Mr TK Dey, RM, CWC will speak on inspection of Stocks and Mr Sher Jagjit Singh, DGM, CWC will deliberate upon Stored grains pests and pest management..
