 CHANDIGARH, APRIL 5

The Covid-19 outbreak has not affected the job prospects for the students of J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad. Despite the pandemic, the University has recorded the highest salary package and participation of companies for placement drive. The University has received participation from 225 companies during the year 2020-21 and highest package of Rs 29.92 lakh per annum.

In the ongoing Campus Placement Drive conducted in the University, 11 students have been selected by Samsung R&D Delhi, six by Amazon, four by Airtel, two by Adobe System and BNY Mellon, one each by Media.net, Squad Stack and Palo Alto in the salary packages from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 29.92 lakh per annum. The highest package of Rs 29.92 lakh was offered by Media.Net Software Services.

Expressing pleasure over the placement record, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar said that despite of Covid-19 outbreak, the University students have proved themselves in all spheres with great placement records during this session. It is a matter of pride when top recruiters show faith in the potential of University students which make them secure placements even before their final semester. Today, University’s alumni are working world-wide with prestigious companies including Daikin India, Amazon, Samsung and more, he added.

Dean of Placement, Alumni and Corporate Affairs Dr. Vikram Singh said that despite the pandemic, placements have been good. Besides IT and Computers, we are observing good response from companies hiring in the core sectors, which include mechanical and electrical engineering, too. Several multinationals are appointing freshers from the campus. Amazon, Samsung R&D, Airtel and Adobe are some of the reputable names that are part of the recruitment exercise. Amazon and Samsung R&D have become the most sought companies among students in the recent past due to their attractive salary package. Amazon has consecutively offered over 28 lakh per annum salary package while Samsung R&D generally offers between 10 to 14 lakh to the students. All the units of Samsung R&D in Delhi, Noida and Gurgram have been conducting placement drives in the University, he added.

Thus, the University has now emerged as the latest hub for leading recruiters like Daikin Air-Conditioning, Samsung R&D, Amazon, Adobe System, HCL and TCS. This year, the University has so far arranged the placement drive of 225 companies, as compared to 202 in the year 2019-20.

To improve our rate of placement, we conduct soft skill workshops and mock interviews. Technical talks are also organised,” said Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, who is the Training and Placements Officer of the University. Though companies from multiple sectors have recruited students of the University but engineering students remained their first choice, he added.

Dr. Sanjeev Kumar said that placements are usually held from mid-year for the outgoing batch, but owing to the pandemic and the restrictions imposed by the authorities to minimize the spread of the novel coronavirus, the process began late last year, in August. Most of the companies have been holding the interviews online as physical interactions are not possible and several students have already received their job offers.

The University has registered the highest number of placements as in the ongoing placement drive, 410 students are already placed who are going to pass out in June 2021. Also, 402 students were placed during the year 2019-20. The highest package has been increased from Rs 28.75 lakh to Rs 29.92 lakh per annum. The average package offered in 2019-20 was Rs 3.78 lakh per annum, has increased near to Rs 4 lakh per annum, this year, he added.
