PM announces extension of Metro Rail connectivity up to Ballabhgarh

CHANDIGARH, SEPT 6
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced that Metro rail connectivity would be extended up to Ballabhgarh in the days to come which would connect the important part of Haryana with National Capital Delhi. A sum of Rs.700 crore would be spent on this ambitious project.
The Prime Minister was addressing a largely attended ‘Gati Pragati’ rally after inaugurating Badarpur-Mujesar Metro Rail Link Project at Faridabad today. The 13.8 kilometre Metro line project has cost about Rs 2500 crore and has nine stations in Haryana territory. This would facilitate about 2 lakh daily passengers commuting from Delhi. Mr. Modi travelled in metro from Delhi to Bata Chowk in Faridabad. He symbolically flagged off the metro train from the rally site and both the scenes-the running of metro train and flagging off by PM on the LCD screens displayed at the site. He also unveiled the plaque about the inauguration of the project by pressing the remote button.
While congratulating the people on this occasion, he said that metro is not only a mode of transport but it gives pace to economic development. With this facility of metro, Haryana would be able to attract weekend tourists which will provide employment opportunities to the local populace.
He said that the auxiliary electricity requirement of the metro stations would be met by solar energy, the panels of which have been erected at the stations. It will be producing about 2 MW electricity. Mr. Modi said that besides laying railway tracks, the DMRC is also contributing in the green revolution as the metro stations are green and environment friendly. With this facility,
While describing his association with the Haryana State, the Prime Minister said that Haryana was his ‘second home’ as he had spent most of time in Haryana after Gujarat. It is the affection of people of Haryana which attract him to visit the state repeatedly. He assured to repay with interest for the affection shown to him by way of ushering development here. He also mentioned that Faridabad is not new to him and he has been travelling in the streets of this city on scooter. He said that Faridabad is ninth industrial estate of Asia and now people from various parts of the country were residing here which has made this city look like ‘mini India’. The development of this city needed to be geared up and the commissioning of metro gives boost to development.

Mr. Modi said that name of Faridabad has figured into the list of Smart cities. But this is entry into the race and the people of this city would have to resolve to fulfill all the parameters required for a smart city. He said this is a difficult task to achieve and people will have to accept the challenge.

Amidst thunderous applause, the Prime Minister patted the back of Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal and his entire team for making the ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ campaign a great success and added that earlier Haryana got a bad name for female foeticide but now with the efforts of Chief Minister, the State is known for saving the girl child. Political leaders of the state have initiated significant steps in this direction. The national campaign to save the girl child was also started from this land, he recollected. He said that Mr. Manohar Lal is very hardworking leader and hoped that under his leadership the Haryana state will touch new heights.

The PM said, "Our Government is working on one mantra of development of the nation. As long as railways, roads are not constructed, the fruits of development cannot reach the people at lower strata. The country needs development and we are utilizing our energy in this direction, criticizing the previous government will not serve the purpose." He pointed out that it was better if such initiatives were taken during last 60 years. It is the responsibility of the government to find out new methods of progress, so as to put the country on fast track of development. Referring to the recent economic meltdown, Mr Modi said that when the big economies crashed, the Economists were of the view that even in such diverse conditions, only India economy stands unaffected. It clearly indicates that the steps taken by the BJP government during last 13 months were in the right direction.
Earlier, the Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal said that this is the third tour of the PM in Haryana in 13 months and he is scheduled to visit the state two more times during this month. This shows that Mr. Modi has adopted Haryana as he has in his team seven Ministers-four directly from Haryana and three indirectly belong to Haryana. Mr. Manohar Lal said that the visit of PM to Faridabad is after 23 years, earlier visit of PM was in 1992. He also mentioned Faridabad and Gurgaon are two main cities of state which needed to be connected through Metro. Referring to new Enterprise Promotion Policy 2015, he said that State government will organize investment summit in January next with an aim to attract investment of Rs one lakh crore besides employment opportunities to four lakh people.
Earlier, Union Urban Development Minister Mr. Venkaiah Naidu elaborated about the schemes taken up by his ministry. He said that Modi means ‘Maker of Developed India’. He said that out of 300 km metro rail network, about 200 km network has been completed in Delhi alone and work on 610 km metro line was in progress. Besides, laying of new lines measuring 620 km was in planning stage. He said that Faridabad has been included into smart city and inclusion of Gurgaon was also being considered. He said that under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation, 20 towns of Haryana would be developed with the assistance of Union Government.
