Haryana Government notifies public holidays

CHANDIGARH, DEC 15
The Haryana Government has notified the schedule of holidays to be observed as public holidays in the public offices under the State government during the calendar year 2016. The Government has also notified the holidays to be observed as public holidays in the State (Except Judicial Courts, in Haryana) within the meaning of section 25 of Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881.
            While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that a notification has been issued by General Administration Department in this regard.
            He said that the besides all Sundays and Saturdays, the holidays which would be observed as public holidays in the public offices included Republic Day on January 26, Sir Chhotu Ram Jayanti and Basant Panchmi on February 12, Guru Ravidas’s Birthday on February 22, Maharishi Dayanand Sarswati Jayanti on March 4, Maha Shivratri on March 7, Shaheedi Diwas of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev on March 23, Holi on March 24, Vaisakhi on April 13, Dr. B.R Ambedkar’s Jayanti on April 14, Ram Navami on April 15, Mahavir Jayanti on April 20, Lord Parshu Ram Jayanti on May 9, Maharana Partam Jayanti on June 7, Sant Kabir Jayanti on June 20, Id-ul-Fitr on July 6, Independence Day on August 15, Janmashtami on August 25, Id-ul-Juha (Bakrid) on September 12, Haryana’s Heroes’ Martydom Day on September 23, Dussehra on October 11, Muharram on October 12, Haryana Day and Vishavkarma Day on November 1, Guru Nanak’s Birthday on November 14, Milad-un-Nabi or Id-E-Milad (Birthday of Prophet Mohammad) on December 13 and Shaheed Udham Singh’ Birthday on December 26.
            The spokesman said that the festivals and occasions which falls on the closed day and have been excluded from the list included Budh Purnima on May 21, Shaheed Udham Singh’s Martydom Day (R.H.) on July 31, Teej on September 4, Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti on October 1, Mahatma Gandhi’s Birthday on October 2, Maharishi Valmiki’s Birthday on October 16, Diwali on October 30, Chhath Puja (R.H.) on November 6 and Christmas Day on December 25. He said that besides these holidays employees may be allowed any two holidays to be chosen out of the Restricted Holidays. These included Good Friday on March 25, Guru Arjan Dev’s Martyrdom Day on June 8, Raksha Bandhan on August 18, Karwa Chauth on October 19, Goverdhan Puja on October 31 and Guru Teg Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day on November 24.
            He said that holidays to be observed as public holidays in the State (Except Judicial Courts, in Haryana) within the meaning of section 25 of Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881 included all Sundays, Republic Day on January 26, Guru Ravidas’s Birthday on February 22, Maha Shivratri on March 7, Holi on March 24, Annual Closing of Bank Account (Ist working day of April) on April 1, Dr. B.R Ambedkar’s Jayanti on April 14, Mahavir Jayanti on April 20, Budh Purnima on May 21, Id-ul-Fitr on July 6, Independence Day on August 15, Janmashtami on August 25, Dussehra on October 11 and Guru Nanak’s Birthday on November 14.
