Recruitment of police personnel in Haryana purely on marit

CHANDIGARH, JAN 22
Recruitment for the post of 4,500 male and 1,000 female police personnel and more than 350 sub-inspectors will begin in February. They will be recruited purely on merit basis and there will be no interview. Also, counsellors would be appointed in 18 schools run by the Police Department to generate awareness about crime against children.

Disclosing this in Rewari today, the Haryana Director General of Police, Mr BS Sandhu, said a big campaign named ‘Durga Shakti’ would be launched to stop crime against women in the state. Under the campaign, five woman SPOs each would be recruited for every village and ward. Keeping a vigil on crimes against women, they will directly report to the district head of police.
Preventing crime against women is a priority with the Haryana Police and many schemes have been implemented in this regard, he added.
Mr Sandhu said such crimes could be prevented by spreading awareness. The Police Department is taking strict action to prevent such crimes. The Police would send such cases to fast-track courts and ensure that the culprits are awarded punishment at the earliest. At a higher level, Operation Durga is working to stop such crimes and much more will be done under this campaign, he added.
Speaking on the increasing crimes in schools, the DGP blamed it on obscenity and the use of internet by children for seeking obscene information. Besides, children are also under the heavy pressure of education.
Recently, many cases of gang rape and murder were reported in the state and culprits were arrested immediately. A high tech Control Room is being set up in Panchkula which would be linked with all districts. All complaints received on No. 100 would be first received at Panchkula, and later transferred to the respective district, so that the police could immediately reach the spot. For this 25 new PCRs would be purchased, he added.
