Aishani Tiwari of Gujarat took 40 minutes as she recorded a stunning 21-12 21-17 victory over top seeded Samayara Panwar of Uttar Pradesh in the girls Under=17 singles second round match in the 1st Ashwani Gupta Memorial All India Sub Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament-2022 at Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex.Aishani Tiwari started her campaign in the main draw with an easy 21-5 21-6 victory against Asmitha Mariya Jeya Kumar of Tamil Nadu in the first round.
Close matches were recorded. Andrea Sarah Kurien of Kerala faced stiff resistance from Angelina Valsan of Delhi. In a closely-fought second round match Andrea toiled to overcome her rival by 21-16, 20-22, 21-11 in 40 minutes.
Andrea Sarah Kurien had an easy first round against Ruchi Chahal as she raced to a 21-9 21-12 win in 22 minutes.
Wild card Unnati Hooda of Haryana won her first and second round matches. In her second round match, Unnati caused a mild upset 11th seed Aanchal Jain of Maharashtra by 21-8 21-9. In her first round Unnati beat Zainab Saeed of Delhi 21-11, 21-8.
Bharath Latheesh of Kerala and Manish Phogat of Rajasthan traded stroke for stroke in a 60-minute second round boys under-17 seond round match before the former won by 20-22 21-14 21-15. In another tough second round outing Tushar Suveer of Karnataka pipped wild card Gagan of Haryana by 22-20 5-21 21-16.
