One Week AICTE-sponsored ATAL Faculty Development Program (FDP) was organized at Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology (KCET), Ranjit Avenue on the theme “Advancing Smart Manufacturing: Unlocking the Power of Industry 4.0 for Modern Applications”. Atleast 153 participants registered from 15 states of India. Attendees represented a wide array of prestigious institutions, including NITs, NITTTR, various Central Universities, and private universities took part in the program.
The program commenced with an inaugural address by Dr. Manju Bala, Director of KCET, who emphasized the transformative role of Industry 4.0 in shaping the future of manufacturing. She stated, “The integration of advanced technologies like IoT, AI, robotics, and data analytics is not just an option but a necessity for industries to remain competitive in a globalized economy. Programs like these empower educators and professionals to stay ahead of the curve.” She further added, “Such initiatives align with our institution’s mission to foster innovation and bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industrial practices.”
The FDP comprised 13 impactful sessions, featuring 9 national and one international speakers both academicians and industrialists , who delivered insightful talks on various aspects of Industry 4.0. Dr. Sheetal Soda, Assistant Professor at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar NIT Jalandhar, addressed participants on “Industrial IoT: Connecting Machines and Systems for Smarter Manufacturing” and “Sustainability in Smart Manufacturing: Green Technologies and Energy Efficiency”. Dr. Narendra Kumar, also from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar NIT Jalandhar, spoke on “The Next Wave of Manufacturing: Embracing Industry 4.0” and “Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing): Transforming Production and Prototyping”.
The international session was led by Shahnawaz Khan, Associate Professor and Head of Applied Research at Bahrain Polytechnic, who shared insights on “Digital Twins in Manufacturing: Virtual Models for Real-World Operations” and “Data Analytics and AI in Manufacturing: Driving Efficiency and Innovation”. Atul Pathria, Founder and CEO of Quinji Tech, highlighted the importance of “Cybersecurity in Industry 4.0: Safeguarding Smart Manufacturing Systems”.
Industry experts such as Shamneesh Sharma, Senior Manager at upGrad Education Pvt. Ltd., discussed “Cloud Computing in Manufacturing: Enhancing Scalability and Collaboration”, while Dr. Arun Arora, Business Head at Hi-Tech Engineers, elaborated on “Supply Chain 4.0: Leveraging Industry 4.0 for Smarter, More Resilient Supply Chains”. Nadeem Pasha, Global Talent Acquisition Head at Robosoft Technologies, shared insights on “Smart Factories: The Role of Automation and Robotics in Manufacturing”, and Debashish Ghosh, Senior Vice President HR at Berkadia Services Pvt. Ltd., discussed “Human-Machine Collaboration: Augmenting Workforce Skills in the Era of Industry 4.0”. The concluding session featured Dr. G.P. Rao, Founder of Good People Relations, who presented on “Implementing Industry 4.0: Case Studies and Lessons from Successful Smart Manufacturing Projects”.
