Now male employees of the Haryana Government,   on valid adoption of a child below the age of one year, are eligible to avail 15 days’ paternity leave within six months  from date of adoption. This facility would be admissible to those having less than two surviving children.
A proposal to this effect has been approved by Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
While stating this today, Haryana Finance Minister, Capt Ajay Singh Yadav clarified that if not availed, this leave would lapse.  This leave would be admissible only in case of adoption of a child and hence it would be called child adoption leave. This leave could not be clubbed with any other type of leave.
Capt Yadav said that already Haryana Government had sanctioned 180 days maternity leave, 730 days child care leave and 180 days child adoption leave to its female  employees on the pattern of Government of India. He said that Haryana Government employees had demanded that 15 days paternity leave should be given to them on the pattern of Government of India employees.
He said that there was a provision in Government of India rules that a male employee of Government of India with less than two surviving children, on valid adoption of a child below the age of one year was eligible to get 15 days paternity leave within a period of six months from the date of valid adoption.
