Army to recruit pandits, granthis and maulvis

CHANDIGARH, AUG 3
Army Recruiting Office, Ambala Cantt. has invited applications from eligible candidates belonging to Haryana, except Mewat, Palwal, Gurgaon and Faridabad districts, Himachal Pradesh and Union Territory Chandigarh for recruitment to the posts of Junior Commissioned Officers (religious teachers).
          While stating this here today, Director Recruiting, Army Recruiting Office, Ambala Cantt., Col. S.K. Prasad said that in all, the RRT – 67 course has 40 vacancies including 26 of Pandits, eight of Granthi and six of Maulvi. The age of civilian candidates should be between 27 and 34 years and between 25 to 34 years for remustered candidates as on October 1, 2011.
          Col. Prasad said that minimum educational qualification for appointment as Pandit would be graduation in any discipline. In addition, candidate must also be qualified in Madhyama in Sanskrit or Bhushan in Hindi or equivalent standard in the regional language concerned. Those who have passed BA with Sanskrit or Hindi as one of the elective (main) subjects, but have not done Madhyama in Sanskrit or Bhushan in Hindi were also eligible.
          For appointment of Granthi, the minimum educational qualification would also be graduation. In addition, candidate must also be qualified as Vidwan in Punjabi or equivalent standard in the regional language concerned.  Those who have passed BA with Punjabi as one of the elective (main) subject but not done Vidwan in Punjabi are also eligible.
          In case of Maulvi, the minimum educational qualification would also be graduation and the candidate must also he qualified as Maulvi Alim in Arabic, Adab Alim in Urdu or equivalent standard in the regional language concerned. Those who have passed BA with Arabic or Urdu as one the elective (main) subject, but not done Maulvi Alim in Arabic or Adab Alim Urdu are also eligible.
