Haryana to promote traditional systems of medicine

The Haryana Government is taking effective steps to promote traditional systems of medicine  like ayurveda, homeopathy and unani. The State Government has approved Rs 89 crore in non plan scheme and Rs 11 crore in plan scheme for implementation of various schemes of AYUSH Department during the current financial year.
          Haryana Health Minister, Rao Narender Singh said this in a press conference after inaugurating an Ayurvedic Dispensary and Panchkarma Centre at Panchkula near here today.
          He said that during the current financial year a provision has been made to provide panchkarma therapy facility in all hospitals of 21 districts and AYUSH services at 50 other primary health centres.  
He said that safe and successful treatment is possible for chronic diseases like high blood pressure, sugar, breathing problems, skin disorders and psychological diseases with panchkarma treatment. He said that State Government is working hard to provide door to door health services in the entire State. Also, free medicines are being provided in Government hospitals.
          He said that there are an Ayurvedic College, three Ayurvedic hospitals, three unani hospitals, six primary health centres, 456 Government Ayurvedic dispensaries, 17 Government unani dispensaries and 20 Government homeopathic dispensaries in the State. Under the National Rural Health Mission health services are being provided at AYUSH wing in 21 district hospitals with ayurvedic and homeopathic treatment, 92 community health centres also provide  homeopathic treatment and 50 primary health centres have facility  of AYUSH treatment. He said that every year 50 students of Shri Krishna Government Ayurvedic College, Kurukshetra are being given Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S) Degree. A 100-bedded hospital is also being run along with this college. He said that in May last, Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda laid the foundation stone of an ayurvedic college and 100-bedded hospital which would be completed within three years.
          On this occasion, Rao Narender Singh released a book namely ‘AYUSH Ek Nazar’ which has information about AYUSH therapies including tips for longevity and to stay healthy and description of available facilities in AYUSH centres. Mr. D. K. Bansal, MLA Panchkula also spoke on the occasion.
