CHANDIGARH, SEPT 11
Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today
announced to increase the refreshment allowance being given to the
cadets of National Cadet Core (NCC) in the State from Rs. six to Rs. 25
per cadet per parade per day.
The decision to this effect was taken in a meeting which Mr Hooda had with Director General, NCC, Lt. Gen. P.S. Bhalla here today.It was also decided in principal to set up a NCC Academy in the State.
Mr.
Hooda also approved the setting up of a new NCC group Headquarters at
Hisar, new NCC Girls Battalion at Nuh in district Mewat and a new
NCC (mixed) Battalion at Sirsa. It was for the first time in the
history of the State that two new NCC battalions and a Group Headquarter
have been approved in a financial year. With this, the number of NCC
units in the State will rise to 25. At present 20 NCC Battalions and two
NCC Group Headquarters aree operational in the State. As many as 34,000
cadets are getting NCC training in different schools, colleges and
universities of the State.
In the meeting the Chief Minister also approved the increase in
POL grant for NCC Group Headquarters and NCC Battalions in the State as
per the existing Manual issued by the Director General, NCC, Ministry of
Defense.
It was informed in the meeting that at present State Universities have reserved a seat in each of the teaching departments for NCC “C” certificate holders in Post-graduate courses. Also, the State Government has already increased the messing allowance for Associate NCC Officers (ANO’s) and Cadets with effect from 2008 for camps.

Finance Mr. Sanjeev Kaushal, Principal Secretary, Higher Education Mr.
S.S. Prasad, Major General P.S. Mander, Brig. C.K. Sood and Lt. Col.
