Girija to lay foundation stone of 2144 houses in Sirsa

 Union Minister for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Minister, Dr. Girija Vyas will soon lay the foundation stone of 2144 houses to be constructed at a cost of Rs.95 crore at Sirsa under Rajiv Gandhi Awas Yojna.
            While disclosing this today, Member of Parliament, Dr. Ashok Tanwar said that Chief Minister Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda and other leaders would also be present on this occasion. He said that Haryana Government has accorded approval to make four towns including Sirsa slum free under a pilot project. He said that Municipal Council had also identified the land for this purpose. As many as 2016 houses would be constructed adjoining village Kanganpur on an area of 55776 square metre and 128 houses would be built on an area of 28716 square metre in Khaja Khera near Auto market.
            Elaborating about the features of houses, he said that each house would have carpet area of 25.61 square metre having drawing room, bed room, kitchen, bathroom, toilet and balcony. The facilities such as concrete roads, pump station for drinking water, tubewell, sewerage, electricity, boundary facing, and rain water harvesting would be provided in housing premises. A sum of over Rs.10.94 crore would be spent on providing basis facilities in the entire area. Balance amount would be spent on construction. Ownership rights of houses would be given to beneficiaries, he added.
            Dr. Tanwar said that as many as 3862 multi-storey houses would be constructed at Sirsa, Ambala, Rohtak and Yamunanagar towns at a cost of Rs.311.09 crore. Initially, 2144 houses would be built in Sirsa on pilot project basis. Similarly, 1518 houses would be constructed at Rohtak and 200 at Ambala. Hundreds of houses would also be constructed at Yamunanagar at a cost of Rs.60 crore. All these houses would be constructed by Haryana Housing Board. Every house would cost Rs.3.51 lakh. 50 per cent cost would be borne by the Central Government and rest 50 per cent would be shared by state government and beneficiary. Beneficiary would have to pay marginal cost of the house. Apart from this, the cost borne by the beneficiary would also be financed by DRI Scheme of Nationalized Bank on low rate of interest.

NHFDC invites applications from handicap students for scholarships

National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC) has invited applications from students with disabilities for award of 2000 Scholarship under National Fund Scholarship Scheme and Trust Fund Scholarship Scheme.
   While giving this information here today, an official spokesman said these scholarships were provided every year to eligible students with disabilities for pursuing higher, professional and technical courses. Under Trust Fund Scholarship Scheme, 1500 scholarships would be provided and under National Fund Scholarship Scheme, 500 scholarships would be provided to eligible students with disabilities. 
He said that under Trust Fund Scholarship Scheme, 30 per cent scholarships would be reserved for girls, which would be transferable to male students in case of non-availability of female candidates. Under the Trust Fund, Non-refundable fees would be fully awarded in case of Government and Government aided institutions. However, in case of Private institutions the reimbursement would be restricted to similar courses in government and government aided institutions. The scholarship amount ranges upto Rs 1.50 lakh depending upon course fee, maintenance allowance, books and stationery allowance and aids and appliances of student under Trust Fund.
He said that under the Fund, , maintenance allowance would be paid to the students for 10 months at the rate of Rs. 2500 per month for Professional Graduate Courses and Rs.3000 per month for Professional Post-Graduate Courses for one academic year. Similarly, Books and Stationery allowance would be paid to students pursuing Professional Graduate Courses at the rate of Rs 6,000 per annum and Rs.10, 000 per annum for pursuing Professional Post-Graduate Courses. Apart from this financial assistance would be given for computer with editing software for visually, hearing and orthopedically handicapped graduate and post graduate students pursuing professional courses.
While detailing the eligibility conditions for scholarship under Trust Fund, he said that the financial assistance would be given to pursue degree and post graduate level technical and professional courses from a recognized institution. Maintenance, book or stationary allowance and grant for purchase of assistive devices would be credited to the student’s account.
He said that Non-refundable fees would be reimbursed to the student on production of proof of deposit of fees or would be paid directly to the institute under intimation to the student. The scholarship would be awarded for only one course at a time. He said that the students who get admission to a college to pursue technical or professional courses on the basis of a competitive examination would be eligible for the scholarship without any consideration of percentage of marks at higher secondary or graduation level. Apart from this, the students who get admission in technical or professional courses without facing any competitive examination would also be eligible for scholarship. However, such students should have not less than 50 per cent marks at higher secondary or graduation level. Selection of these students would be done strictly on merit basis, he added.
The spokesman said that students who pursue their education through correspondence would also be eligible for the scholarship. He said that the continuation of the scholarship in subsequent years would be automatic subject to successful completion of the course during the preceding year. However, grace period of one year would be admissible for the entire course in specified categories. He said that a candidate who is awarded scholarship for one course, after its completion would be eligible for another course too. However, the awardees would not be eligible for a similar or equivalent course. A scholarship holder under this scheme would not avail any other scholarships or stipends for pursuing the course.
He said that the annual income of the beneficiaries, parent or guardian of beneficiaries should not exceed Rs. three lakh from all sources. However, preference would be given to economically weaker section, he added.
Under National Fund Scholarship Scheme, Scholarship of Rs.1000 per month for hostellers and Rs.700 per month for day scholars studying in professional courses at graduation and a level above, and Rs.700  per month for hostellers and Rs.400 per month for day scholars pursuing Diploma and Certificate level professional courses would be awarded. Students with disabilities of Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation, Multiple Disabilities and profound or severe hearing impaired for pursuing general professional, technical or vocational courses after class VIII would also be given scholarship amount of Rs 700 for hostellers and Rs 400 for day scholars. The students would also be reimbursed the Course fee subject to a ceiling of Rs.10, 000 per year, he added.
Similarly, for scholarship under the National Fund, Financial Assistance would be available to Indian students with at least 40 per cent disability certified as per definition under Persons with Disabilities Act 1995.  Financial Assistance would be given for pursuing Post-Matric, Post- Secondary technical and professional courses including Ph.D and M.Phil from recognized institutions. However, for students with disabilities of Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation, Multiple Disabilities and profound or severe hearing impaired, the minimum education qualification would be class VIII pass and scholarship would be awarded to them for pursuing general, technical, vocational or professional courses. Scholarship would be awarded to one student for pursuing only one course.
The Financial assistance could be given for computer with editing software for blind, deaf graduate and postgraduate students pursuing professional courses and for support access software for cerebral palsied students. He said that continuation or renewal of the award for the next year would depend on successfully completing the course in the preceding year with minimum 45 per cent marks for professional course and 40 per cent for other courses. The assistance under this scheme is not intended for Post-Matric or Post Secondary Technical or professional courses having duration less than one year. He said that a scholarship holder under this scheme would not concurrently hold any other scholarship or stipend. If already any other scholarship or stipend awarded, the student is required to exercise his or her option for choosing the scholarship that he or she proposed to avail and inform awarding authority about the same.
Monthly family income of the beneficiary should not be more than 15,000 from all sources under National und scheme. Family income includes income of the parent or guardian, he added.
The hard copy of the printed application for the scholarship might be sent to the National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, Red Cross Bhawan, Sector-12, Faridabad by August 31 for availing scholarship under National Fund Scholarship Scheme.  For Trust Fund Scholarship, the students can apply on www.nhfdc.nic.in  anytime online in an academic year and submit hardcopy of the application duly recommended by head of the institution or college alongwith attested copy of requisite documents. 9.3 % annual growth in Haryana economy

 Haryana's economy has grown at an average annual rate of 9.3 per cent in the last seven years and an efficient banking system that includes the rural economy is a necessity to achieve this level of holistic economic growth.
This was stated by Haryana Chief Secretary Mr. P K Chaudhery while inaugurating 18 rural branches of HDFC Bank here today.
The Chief Secretary said that with the launch of 18 rural branches in Haryana today, the total network of the HDFC braches in the state has now become 200 branches. He said that 18 new branches, of which 14 are in unbanked locations, will bring formal banking solutions to around 90,000 people in the state. 
The Bank has doubled its branch network in the state in the past two years, being the first to take formal banking experience to a number of villages. With increased branch density, the Bank now has a branch at an average distance of every 10 kms in Haryana. With this, the Bank now has about 65 per cent of its network dedicated to semi-urban and rural areas of Haryana.
Speaking at the launch, Country Head, Branch Banking, HDFC Bank, Mr. Navin Puri said that our expanded 200-branch network enables us to bring our full range of banking solutions to a significantly larger number of people in deeper parts of the state. This brings us closer to the people of Haryana and allows us to be a part of their everyday life. At a national level, the Bank has 53 per cent of its branches in semi-urban and rural areas and is continuously extending its reach in the hinterland in its endeavour to support inclusive growth.

HHRC to organize seminar on human rights

 Haryana Human Rights Commission (HHRC) would organise a seminar on Human Rights to sensitize the Revenue Officers at Gurgaon on August 29.
          While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Commission said that Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda would be the Chief Guest and Chairman of Haryana Human Rights Commission Mr. Justice Virender Jain would preside over the function.
          He said that Haryana Chief Minister would deliver the inaugural address.

Justice Virender Jain and Additional Chief Secretary, Haryana Revenue Department Mr. Krishna Mohan would also address the inaugural session and Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court Mr. Justice Nawab Singh, Additional Principal Secretary to Haryana Chief Minister, Dr. K.K. Career Advancement Scheme approved

 Academic Council of Pt. B.D. Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak today approved the Career Advancement Scheme and Allowances of Faculty of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences and Post Graduate Institute of Dental Sciences, Rohtak during its      9th meeting held today.
            While stating this today, a spokesman of the university said that this Scheme was recommended by a committee constituted by Vice Chancellor on the representation made by the Haryana Medical Teacher’s Association.  As many as 52 agenda items were discussed and approved in the meeting, he added.
            He said that after approval of this scheme by the state government, as many as 300 faculty members of Health University would get better promotional avenues which would encourage them to work further with dedication. This Scheme would prove beneficial to the faculty who is facing a problem of stagnation in almost all departments at the level of the rank of Professor.  This problem is much more serious in those departments where the sanctioned posts of Sr. Professors are either one or two, he added.
                 He said that approximately 65 posts of Senior Professors and 300 posts of Teachers are sanctioned presently.  Therefore, only 20 percent of the faculty was getting the opportunity to be promoted as Senior Professors and 80 percent of the faculty was denied as less number of posts is sanctioned.
