Governor reviews meeting of Mewat Development Agency

The Governor of Haryana, Mr Jagannath Pahadia, today had a review meeting of Mewat Development Agency (MDA). The meeting was held at PWD rest house of Gurgaon. Mr Pahadia expressed satisfaction over the activities of the Agency.
          The Commissioner of Gurgaon Division Mr DPS Nagal apprised the Governor that MDA broadly works in the field of education, health, community works, agriculture, animal husbandry, industrial, vocational and off – farm training, community development, cultural development, project management and lending scheme of National Minority Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC).
Mr Nagal told that the MDA is running six Mewat Model Schools at Nuh, Firozpur Jhirka, Tauru, Punhana, Nagina and Hathin which have become very popular among the residents as most of the people want to admit their wards in these schools. He said that one school with special focus on Science and Mathematics is being run at Nagina and another such school is proposed to be opened at Madhi. These schools are imparting quality education to more than eight thousand students of the region. The Agency is also running a girls hostel of two hundred capacity in Mewat Model School Nuh with free boarding and lodging facility to girls.
           He further told that besides model schools, the MDA is also running Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas at Nuh, Tauru, Firozpur Jhirka, Punhana, Nagina and Hathin which are only for girls. Through these schools the education of girls is being promoted in the region. In addition, the MDA is also operating one Institute of Hospitality Management at Nuh.
          Mr Nagal said that the MDA is sponsoring various health related activities in Mewat area and people are made aware about maintaining hygiene and cleanliness. For this, special health camps, Malaria control program and immunization of children were carried out from time to time. While reviewing the health activities, Mr Paharia directed the concerned authorities to promote institutional deliveries in Mewat region and for this; the local population should be made aware about the benefits of institutional deliveries.
          Mr Nagal also apprised the Governor that Mewat district has the highest number of functional Self Help Groups, which are successful and majority of them have women members. The MDA has formed 2208 Self Help Groups covering more than twenty six thousand poor women and they are linked with income generating activities.
          On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner of Mewat Mr RK Verma, who is also Chief Executive Officer of MDA, Secretary to Governor Mrs Neelam P  Kasni, SE of DHBVN Sanjeev Chopra, Executive Engineer of DHBVN VK Aggarwal were also present.
