Reporting of sexual abuse crime compulsory

CHANDIGARH, JAN 6
Haryana Additional Chief Secretary, Women and Child Development Department, Mr. P.K. Mahapatra said that reporting of sexual abuse crime was compulsory for all police officers and FIR should be registered within 24 hours. The Members of District Child Welfare Committee should also come forward for the help of police.
          Mr. Mahapatra was speaking in a one-day state level workshop on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 and Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 for Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) functionaries and stakeholders, at Panchkula near here today.
          After successful implementation of Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign, the Haryana Government has decided to strictly implement the POCSO Act and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.
          Mr. Mahapatra urged the officers deputed in the field to take initiative for successful implementation of these Acts. He said that the State Government would provide required infrastructure and training to District Child Welfare Committees and other stakeholders.
          He directed all officers present in the workshop to hold meetings with Indian Medical Association in their respective areas, and inform the gynaecologists and paediatricians about the provisions of these Acts. He said that under POCSO Act, it was mandatory to provide free first aid to victims of sexual harassment in all hospitals including government and private. He said that while earlier few cases of sexual harassment used to be reported to the police, now with the establishment of women police stations, more such matters are being reported.
          Mr. Mahapatra said that Police officers and Members of District Child Welfare Committees should prepare child protection schemes in all schools and regularly monitor them.
          Additional Director General of Police, Dr. Rajbir Deswal and Deputy Director, National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD), Dr. Sanghamitra Barik also spoke on this occasion.
          Others present on the occasion included Director, Women and Child Development Department, Dr. Renu S. Phulia and other senior officers of the Department.
 CHINESE FIRM TO DEVLOP SOHNA IT PARK: The Chinese firm, China Fortune Land Development (CFLD) has proposed to develop IT Park in Sohna, district Gurugram with an investment of Rs 4,000 crore.
        A delegation comprising President, CFLD, Mr. Jerry Zhao, and other representatives of the company today called on Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, at New Delhi to apprise him about the proposed project.
        The Chief Minister said that the proposed project would prove to be a milestone in the development of the State, and it would generate employment opportunities for the youth. The project would also be included in the Swiss Challenge, he added.
        He said that Pravasi Haryana Divas would be organised in Gurugram on January 10 and 11, 2017, in which more than 500 persons belonging to Haryana would participate. The event is expected to attract huge investment in the State, he added.
        Later, interacting with mediapersons, he expressed grief over the sad demise of veteran actor, Mr. Om Puri, who was born in Ambala.
WORLD HERBAL FOREST: Haryana Government would soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Patanjali Yogpeeth for the development of World Herbal Forest at Morni in district Panchkula.
        While stating this here today, Haryana Health Minister, Mr. Anil Vij said the Central Government has assured its full assistance to develop the World Herbal Forest.
       The Health Minister said that about 76 per cent of the Department’s budget has already been utilised and the remaining budget would be utilised for completion of various works which were in the pipeline, by March 31, 2017.
Mr Vij, who also holds the portfolio of Sports and Youth affairs Department,  said that a committee has been constituted for providing jobs to sportspersons and it has been decided that jobs would be provided to all eligible candidates as per the policy.
        He said that transfers of paramedical staff and doctors would be carried out in online mode only.
        Mr. Vij said that the SAD-BJP alliance would again come into power in Punjab as they had undertaken significant works for development of the state. As the acceptability of Congress in the country had ended, there was no possibility of the party forming government in Punjab. Similarly, the Aam Admi Party has failed due to its own actions. Therefore, now it does not have the support of the people in Punjab.
MODEL DESIGN OF EVM: The Election Commission of India has invited entries for National Design Idea Competition for model design of Electronic Voter Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail System (VVPAT) Warehouse from students and faculty of prestigious institutions of Architecture and Design. The teams, comprising maximum three members, may register for the competition by January 15, 2017, whereas online submissions must be made by January 22.
The competition would be held for two categories, namely Category I, which includes warehouses with EVM and VVPAT holding capacity of 2,000 and Category II, which includes warehouses with EVM and VVPAT holding capacity of 6,000. Each of these categories carry three prizes of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000.
