17 countries confirm entries for Haryana International Short Film Festival

CHANDIGARH, FEB 17
 The first ever Haryana International Short Film Festival will be organized as a part of the Swarna Jayanti celebrations of Haryana in Kurukshetra from April 13 to 16, 2017. As many as 17 countries have so far given their consent to telecast their films which would be attended by various noted actors, directors and television artistes.
        While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that as per the directions of the Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, the film festival was being organised to promote the cultural heritage of Kurukshetra and Haryanvi culture.
        He said that the film festival would be organised jointly by District Administration, Kurukshetra and Sanskrit Society for Art and Cultural Development in the premises of Multi Art Cultural Centre, Kurukshetra.
        The spokesman said that 60 films including eight feature films, 40 short films, 10 music videos and one Irani film ‘Children of Heaven’ would be telecast based on various topics such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao Abhiyan, cultural heritage of the state and other topics. The best films would be awarded on the last day of festival, besides organising various competitions of singing, music and folk dances. The best artists in these competitions would also be honoured on this occasion, he added.
        Noted actors and directors namely Mr. Manoj Bajpayee, Mr. Yashpal Sharma, Ms. Meghna Malik, Mr. Ashwini Chaudhary, Mr. Govind Namdev, Mr. Raghubir Yadav, Ms. Mita Vashisht, Mr. Jaideep Ahlawat, Ms. Sumitra Padnekar and other renowned actors and artists would attend the film festival.
