Nabard proves two projects costing Rs 28.17 crore

CHANDIGARH, FEB 17
The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has approved two projects costing Rs 28.17 crore for providing raw water by pumping for 17 water works schemes in Haryana.
          While stating this here today, Minister of State for Public Health Engineering Dr Banwari Lal said that over Rs  21.17 crore have been approved for providing raw water arrangements by pumping for 13 water works scheme at Kheri Jalab, Kheri Lochab, Nara, Kinner, Rakhi Khas and Rakhi Shahpur from Barwala Branch at RD 12558-L, Kharkeri, Chanot, Majod from Balsamand Branch at RD 25263-I, Uglana, Bhaklana, Dharam Kheri from Sunder Sub Branch at RD 109031-R, Madanheri from Sunder Branch at RD 150137-L district Hisar. He said that about Rs seven crore have been approved for providing raw water arrangements by pumping for four water works of villages Niyana, Kharar Alipur, Kulana and Mayyar from Balsamand Branch at RD 42800-L district Hisar.
          Dr Banwari Lal said that the first project was conceived and got approved from NABARD to provide raw water from assured and sustainable point of availability of raw water in the canal network for these 13 waterworks. He said that this project which would be completed within three years would benefit present population of 60,214 persons and prospective population of 90,324 persons for 30 years. The implementation of these projects would go a long way in providing a sustainable drinking water source for 15 villages of district Hisar. He said that a prospective population of about 90,324 persons would be benefited with safe drinking water, which would have a direct effect in improving the health of the people, leading to improvement in the socio-economic conditions and productivity.
          He said that at present these 13 water works were supposed to receive their raw water supplies from different canals or minors in Hisar district. He said that it had been observed that during several years in the past there was an acute shortage of raw water at the water works from the feeding canals, due to tail end reaches of canal networks and also due to drastically reduction of raw water availability in canals. The existing structures at all the 13 water works were capable of generating drinking water at the rate of more than 70 Litres Per Capita Per Day  (LPCD) for the present population of the year 2016, he added.
          While referring to the another project approved by NABARD, the Minister said that at present these four water works of villages Niyana, Kharar Alipur, Kulana and Mayyar were supposed to receive their raw water supplies from various canals or minors in Hisar district. He said that this project would be completed within a period of three years and would benefit present population of 29,910 and prospective population of 44,865 for 30 years. Apart from this, a prospective population of about 44,865 persons would be benefited with safe drinking water, which would have a direct effect in improving the health of people, leading to improvement in the socio-economic conditions and productivity.
