3978 farmers benefited under “Bhavantar Bharpaai Yojna”.

CHANDIGARH, MAY 24 
In Haryana, as many as 3978 farmers have so far been benefited with a sum of Rs 9.52 crore under “Bhavantar Bharpaai Yojna”.
          This was informed during the second meeting of State Level Monitoring Committee chaired by Chief Secretary Mr. D.S. Dhesi at Chandigarh today.
          Mr Dhesi said that strenuous efforts are being made to bring more area under Bhavantar Bharpaai Yojna and to benefit maximum number of farmers under it.
          He said that this scheme has been successfully implemented in the state for the last two years. Four crops, namely Potato, Cauliflower, Tomato and Onion are included under this Yojna. He said the main objective of this Yojna is to encourage farmers to diversify the production of their crops.
          It was informed that budget provision of Rs two crore has been made under the scheme during the year 2019-20. In the first phase of this Yojna from January, 2018 to June 15, 2018, a total number of 4435 farmers have been registered, similarly, in the second phase from October, 2018 to till date, 19790 farmers have been registered for availing benefit of this scheme.
          It was informed that till date, under this Yojna, 3978 farmers have been given a benefit of Rs 9.52 crore. Under “Bhavantar Bharpaai Yojna”, nine Mandi Zones have been divided in the state so as to assess the price of horticultural crops. Ambala, Karnal, Rohtak, Gurugram, Hisar, Bhiwani and Faridabad are included in these Zones.
          He said that, this Yojna has been started for farmers producing horticultural crops. Under this, in case a farmer gets lower price for his produce than the price fixed by the government, then the State government will compensate for the loss of the farmer. Besides, assisting the farmers to diversify their crops, this Yojna also helps in reducing their loss by fixing a Minimum Support Price.
          Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, Mrs Navraj Sandhu, Director General, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, Mr Ajit Balaji Joshi and other senior officials were also present in this meeting.
