Effective monitoring of defect liability of contractors.

CHANDIGARH, MAY 29
Haryana Public Works (Building and Roads) Minister Rao Narbir Singh directed the officers to ensure that the monitoring of defect liability of contractors is conducted in a proper manner and said that those contractors who give quotations much less than the fixed rate, samples of their construction material for the quality control should be taken at regular intervals. In case, the samples failed to meet the required parameters, work should not be allotted to such contracts and the tenders be invited afresh.
          Rao Narbir Singh was presiding over a review meeting of senior officers of the Department here today.
          He directed that meeting of Executive Engineers and Superintending Engineer of all 11 circles of the Department should be convened at regular intervals. Besides, instructions should be given to them for effective monitoring of defect liability. It was decided that next meeting of Executive Engineers and Superintending Engineers would be held in Sector-1, Panchkula at 11 am on June 4, 2019. Thereafter, the second meeting would be held at Gurugram on June 20, 2019.
          The Minister directed that road projects whether of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) or State Highways, the work on which is being delayed due to the want of No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Forest or Environment Department, such cases should be taken up with the officers of the concerned department on priority basis. The Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal has also taken a stringent view over delay in clearance of such files.
          Additional Chief Secretary, Public Works (Building and Roads) Mr Alok Nigam, Engineer-in-Chief Mr Rakesh Manocha and Technical Advisor Mr Vishal Seth were also present in the meeting.
