Departments/Boards/Corporations directed to register with CUG

by Haryananewswire
CHANDIGARH, OCT 25
The Haryana Government has asked its all Departments, Boards and Corporations to register themselves under Closed User Group (CUG)  scheme of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) with their respective Telephone Exchanges.
While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that in order to reduce the telephone charges, the state Government had adopted this scheme of the BSNL in the year 2009, but it was observed that only a few Departments, Boards, and Corporations adopted the scheme. On further study it was felt that the desired response to the scheme was not obtained because of the lengthy and cumbersome process of dialing of the number by prefixing #1 followed by a specific code number, and the STD code of the called number, even within the city.
After much deliberation the BSNL has agreed to simplify the scheme, and now the users adopting the scheme will only have to register themselves under the scheme. The dialing process will be the same as being used commonly. The main benefit of the scheme is that there would be no local or STD charges within the city or the districts of Haryana and Chandigarh. The calls made to other phones not registered under the scheme would be charged as per the existing tariff. The monthly plan charges under the scheme is Rs. 299, he added.
He said that in a written communication addressed to all Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Commissioners and Secretaries, all Divisional Commissioners and Range Inspector Generals of Police of Haryana, Heads of Departments, Managing Directors, Chief Administrators of the Boards or Corporations, all  Deputy Commissioners  and Superintendents of Police, thay have been asked  that if there was any difficulty, they might contact Mr J.C.Gupta, DGM(F&A) Office of  CGMT, BSNL, Haryana, 107, The Mall, Ambala Cantt.Mobile 09416011660, the Nodal Authority declared by the BSNL in this case.
Also, their subordinate offices may review their bills after a period of two months of the adoption of the scheme, and-send a detailed report of the increase and decrease in their bills for the period to the office of Chief Secretary. The list of numbers already in this scheme can be downloaded from the Haryana Government’s website haryana.gov.in A separate Directory would be published after a considerable number of telephones were registered under this scheme, he added.
