Haryana to promote farming of garlic and marigold

With a view to promote farming of garlic and marigold among the farmers of the State, Haryana Horticulture Department is giving subsidy to the farmers.
            While stating this today, a spokesman of the Department said that under National Horticulture Mission, subsidy at a rate of Rs 5000 per acre was being provided to the farmers engaged in garlic farming. Also, the farmers were being provided with 50 per cent subsidy on the purchase of seeds of G-50 variety of garlic. Under this scheme being implemented by Horticulture Department, the farmers were attracted towards farming of non-conventional as well as  conventional crops. He said that garlic farming could prove more beneficial to the farmers.
            He said that similarly with a view to promote farming of marigold amongst the small farmers, they would also get 50 per cent subsidy  thus  benefit them  to the tune of   Rs 4800 per acre.  Other farmers would be given subsidy of 33 per cent, which would benefit them at a rate of Rs 3168 per acre. He said that the farmers would be benefitted under this scheme on first come first serve basis. He said that the interested farmers could contact office of Horticulture Department or could gather information from Block Level Officers of the Department to get benefitted under this scheme.
            He said that in the changing scenario the farmers should diversify their crops . He said that the farmers should adopt horticulture and should pay special attention towards farming of pulses, fruits, vegetables, flowers and medicinal plants.
