Haryana Police launches digital 1091 helpline for women in crisis

 Haryana Police today launched its four digit  1091 helpline  for “women in crisis”, which would be functional round-the-clock at all  district Police Control Rooms in the State.
          The Haryana Director General, Police, Mr Ranjiv Singh Dalal, inaugurated the helpline at a function held at District Police Lines, Moginand, Panchkula near here today.
          Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Dalal said that this four digit helpline number has been started to integrate various measures for ensuring the safety and security of women facing threat of crime or any other danger.
          Mr. Dalal said that the decision to launch   this helpline number service was taken recently  in a  high level meeting presided over by Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda to instill confidence and sense of security amongst the women in the State. With this helpline, Haryana has now joined Delhi and Chandigarh in extending this facility to its citizens, added Mr. Dalal.
Mr. Dalal said that  this helpline was accessible from anywhere in the country or abroad and exclusively women police officials had been deputed in each police control room to attend  the  complaints round-the-clock. He said that this specially deputed staff would not only receive calls, but would also further inform the nearest police station or police post or PCR van to immediately respond to the caller. Thus, this helpline would be instrumental in empowering the women in the state at all times and would help secure an immediate response from the police whenever the need arose. This helpline would also put pressure on the notorious elements, he added.
          He  said that the state Government had already appointed Mr. K. Selvaraj , Additional Director General of Police, Crime Against Women (CAW) exclusively for reviewing and monitoring the action taken by local police against crime against women in the state.
Mr Dalal also made a fervent appeal to the women in the state to make a call at 1091 for immediate police help, whenever they were in trouble.
         An exhibition of telecommunication equipment used by Haryana police since its inception was also organized on this occasion.
Additional Director General of Police , Training, Mr. Anil Dawra, Additional Director General Police (ADGP),  Law and Order, Mr. M.S. Mann, ADGP, CAW,  Mr. K. Selvaraj, ADGP, Telecommunications Mr. S.S. Deswal,  Inspector General of Police, Railways Mr. V. Kamaraja, Commissioner of Police,  Ambala-Panchkula, Mr. K.K. Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Pachkula Mrs Parul Kush Jain, DCP Ambala (Rural),  Mrs Naazneen Bhasin, DCP Ambala (urban) Mr. Ashok Kumar and  other senior police officers of the commissionerate, members of Road Safety Organizations of the area and distinguished personalities of  Panchkula were also present on this occasion.
