Rich tributes paid to Mahatma Gandhi and Shastri

 Rich tributes were paid to Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister, Mr Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversary  as functions were organized at several places in Haryana today to commemorate their memory. At the state level function organized  at Haryana Raj Bhawan here, Governor Mr Jagannath Pahadia  paid rich  tributes to both Mahatma Gandhi and Mr Lal Bahadur Shastri.
          While speaking on the occasion, Mr. Pahadia cautioned against  violence and tendency of discrimination prevailing in entire world. He said that there had also been instances of communalism, corruption and gimmicks to grab power thus path of non violence and truth as shown by Mahatma Gandhi is severely needed for the entire humanity. He said that aim of Gandhi Ji was to propagate non-violence for change the relationship that exists in political, economical, social and religious aspects in the world.
          Mr Pahadia said that Mahatma Gandhi proved that violence and war are no solution to any problem. He said that Mahatma Gandhi showed the path of non-violence to not only the Indians, but to the entire humanity. Mahatma Gandhi had dreamt of a prosperous India and wanted peace in the world.
           Pahadia said that Mr Lal Bahadur Shastri symbolized simplicity, honesty, patriotism and dedication to duty.
          The Governor suggested that Gandhi Jayanti should also be celebrated in a befitting manner in all schools, colleges and hospitals on October 2 every year.  
          A ‘Sarv Dharam Prathna Sabha’ was also organized as four priests representing different religions including  Hinduism, Christianity, Sikhism and Islam recited sermons from religious scriptures.
          The favourite ‘bhajans’ of Mahatma Gandhi were also recited by the artistes of Haryana Information, Public Relations and Cultural Affairs Department.
          Earlier, the Governor and many others also paid floral tributes to the great leaders.
          Education Minister, Mrs. Geeta Bhukkal, Chairperson Haryana Dairy Development Corporation, Mrs. Chandrawati, Chief Secretary, Mr. P.K. Chaudhery, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Dr. K.K. Khandelwal, Additional Principal Secretary Mr. Shiv Raman Gaur, Director General of Police, Mr. S.N. Vashtist, Principal Secretaries, Mr. Samir Mathur, Mr. Sarban Singh, Mrs. Dheera Khandelwal, Mr. Avtar Singh, Director General, Public Relations and Cultural Affairs Department, Mr. Sudhir Rajpal and several other officers and prominent persons were also present in the prayer meeting.
