CHANDIGARH, JULY 10 Chandigarh Golf Association will host the first Dronacharya DP Azad Junior/Sub Juniors Golf Championship at Chandigarh Golf Club on July 15 and 16 in the memory of Late Dronacharya DP Azad, founder President of Chandigarh Golf Association.
The main objectives of this programme are to improve the competitive spirit among the young budding golfers and give due recognition for achievers, to work for the overall development of young golfers in all dimensions and to support financially and logistically young golfers to play on various courses both within and outside India. The final goal of this programme is to prepare young golfers for achieving a medal in golf in Olympic Games 2016.
This tournament is the brain child of the CGA and it is now being adopted at many others levels in the golf circuit in India. This year the response is very encouraging and at the close of entries, there are a total of 62 participants in all categories as on today. Last date of registration will be July 12.
Entry form is available at our website www.cgaonline.in .The completed entry form along with proof of age and entry fee may be submitted at CGA Golf Range ,Sector 6, Chandigarh 160019.
Competitions will be conducted in the categories A 15-17 years,B 13-14 years, C 11-12 years, D 8-10 years and E 5-7 years.
While A, B, C and D categories will be playing 36 holes over two days, category E will play 9 holes a day for two days. Apart from the winner in each category, there will be prizes for firsr runner-up and 2nd runner-up as well. trophies will also be given to the schools for the achievement of teams representing the schools in all five categories. All participants will be given a gift hamper of golfing items.
Mr CSR Reddy IPS, President and Chairman Tournament Committee CGA informed that the participants include players namely Jaiveer Singh Sandhu, Kartik Digvijay Singh, Chinmaya Mahajan ,Ekamveer Singh Guraon, Manjot Singh and Jujhar Singh will be participate in the championship.
Prize distribution function will be held on July 16 at CGA Golf Range at 5.30 p.m.
