Keeping in view the large number of trainees in driving training centres of the State, Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal has directed to start training programmes in two shifts, that is, day and night. This would help in imparting training to more trainees, who would also be trained for driving during nighttime.
The Chief Minister was presiding over a review meeting of the Transport Department with Transport Minister, Mr. Krishan Lal Panwar and senior officers of the Department here today.
On the suggestion of providing training of foreign languages to trainees in these centres, the Chief Minister directed to take necessary steps towards providing knowledge of English and other foreign languages in these training centres so that these drivers could also get employment opportunities abroad.
While replying to the question of Chief Minister regarding establishment of driver training school in each district, Additional Chief Secretary, Transport, Mr. S.S. Dhillon said that presently, there are 18 driver training centres in the State where training of heavy vehicles is being imparted. Three other driver training centres are being run with the help of the private sector. Training of all kind of vehicles is being imparted in these three centres. Two other such training centres would soon be started in the State, he added.
During the meeting, discussions were held on various activities and future schemes of the Department. The Transport Minister apprised the Chief Minister that online ticket booking service, e-ticketing system and installation of GPS in all buses of the Department are being carried out. He said that about 300 buses which were earlier lying unused in roadways yard due to mismanagement in the tenure of previous State Government have now been made operational on various routes.
In the meeting, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. R.K. Khullar suggested developing a mobile application which would provide information regarding timings and routes of roadways buses. The Chief Minister directed the officers to take necessary steps in this direction.
The Chief Minister was informed in the meeting that process has been started for including 600 new buses in roadways fleet and soon 300 buses would be included in the fleet. Recruitment process of 725 drivers had been started for driving these buses, out of which appointment letters have been issued to 413 drivers who fulfilled all eligibility conditions. Regarding implementation of biometric attendance system for drivers and conductors of the Department, the Chief Minister directed to issue instructions regarding exemption in biometric attendance to drivers and conductors of those buses in which GPS systems have already been installed at the earliest.
Others present in the meeting included Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Dr. Rakesh Gupta and other senior officers of the Department.
