Legal Help Desks set up in Haryana districts

Legal Help Desks have been set up in all the offices of District Legal Services Authorities in Haryana, especially for the victims of recent protests in the State.
          While stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana Legal Services Authority said that victims might approach the Help Desks   for free legal services.
          He said that in case anyone has been subjected to sexual assault of any kind by the arsonists or protestors at any place in the State, it would be open for them to submit a complaint in a sealed envelope to the Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority of the concerned District either in person or through some relative or even by post or e-mail. The Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority will then immediately forward the application to the concerned police authorities for investigation and shall thereafter, pursue the matter with the authorities with a view to ensure justice to the victims. The identity of the victim shall not be disclosed by the Legal Services Authorities. Where the victims have suffered damage to their properties which may be shops, showrooms, vehicles, schools, factories or other movable or immovable properties, they would be at liberty to approach the Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority of the concerned District for redressal of their grievances. The concerned District Legal Services Authorities would be duty bound to assist the victims in choosing the action to be taken, helping them with the same and then pursuing their matters with the concerned authorities as per law.
          He said that where any victim has filed some claim with the Insurance Companies and they are not being given their dues, they would be at liberty to approach the Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority of the concerned District. The District Legal Services Authorities in turn would help the victims by pursuing their issues with the Insurance Companies and providing them legal aid as per rules.
          He said that the said Help Desks have been set up in pursuant to order passed by the  High Court of Punjab and Haryana.
