CHANDIGARH, FEB 17
Lt Gen Balbir Pama, SM, VSM, Director General Recruiting visited the ongoing recruitment rally at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium at Ambala on 17th February 2014. During his visit, the General Officer was briefed in detail about the ongoing recruitment rally and the overwhelming response from the candidates. The General Officer flagged off a 1.6 km run and inspected various stands related to the rally which have all been automated.
Recruitment procedure in the recent times has seen major changes. It has been made more simple and transparent. The entire recruitment process is automated and is being supervised by a Board of Officers and conducting staff other than the recruiting organizations.
Maximum timings for the 1.6 km run as part of physical test has been reduced from 6.20 minutes to 6 minutes for Soldier (GD) only. The timings for all other categories will remain the same as earlier. As a result of the above reduction in timings, physically better candidates will be selected for Sol (GD) cat which is the operational requirement of the Indian Army.
Besides automated process, a Number of other measures to improve transparency, remove impersonation in the recruitment process and introduction of exams using Computer Based Entrance Test (CBET) hall are in the pipe line. Shortly, the candidates will now be undergoing a biometric verification in all stages of the rally including review medical at Military Hospital and while reporting to the Regimental centers. It can be seen that the entire recruitment process is fair and transparent. Therefore, candidates are advised not to fall prey to touts who are making quick money without any reason. In fact, anyone who is approached by any tout should bring it to the notice of ARO to ensure the defaulters are brought to book.
