Haryana to launch second phase of Mission Indradhanush

CHANDIGARH, OCT 28
Haryana Health Minister,Anil Vij said that the second phase of Mission Indradhanush would be launched from November 2 to 8, 2015. As many as 20 lakh children between six months and five years of age would be administered micronutrient supplements under Micronutrient Supplementation Programme-2015.
          A meeting of State Task Force was organized under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Mr. R.R. Jowel here today. He said that Inactivated Poliovirus Vaccine (IPV) would also be introduced during this programme. Under this campaign, supplements of iron and folic acid, Vitamin A and deworming using tablet albendazole would be administered to children between six months and five years of age. During the campaign, samples of salt being used by people in their houses would be tested for the adequate iodine level.
          He said that the second phase of Mission Indradhanush would be implemented in 14 districts of the State. These districts, including Mewat, Gurgaon, Panipat, Bhiwani, Hisar, Sirsa, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Sonepat, Yamunanagar, Rohtak, Rewari, Jhajjar and Panchkula, have been identified by the Central Government on the basis of lack of immunization. However, all districts of the State have been covered once under this campaign in the first phase and the remaining districts would be covered in the third phase.
          Mr. Vij said that the third dose of oral polio vaccine would be administered as per the ‘Global Polio End Game Strategy’ with the slogan of “Polio se Double Surksha”.
