US Ambassador offers help for Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao and Nutrition Programmes

CHANDIGARH, OCT 14
The United States Ambassador to India, Mr. Richard Verma has offered all help through USAID (United State Agency for International Development) and other such US agencies for the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao and Nutrition Programmes of Government of Haryana.
            Mr. Verma, who called on Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal here today, also showed keen interest in the Government of Haryana’s initiative of inviting US based companies and entrepreneurs to invest in Haryana. He was happy to know that with the enthusiasm shown by the investors, the State has decided to hold a “Happening Haryana Global Investors Summit” in February 2016.
            The US Ambassador expressed that US is willing to enhance mutual cooperation with the State government in setting up of Theme Parks, Food Parks, online education and training, e-learning, skill based training modules, student exchange programmes and women empowerment related projects.  Mr. Richard Verma extended an invitation to the State government to participate in the 5th US –India Aviation Summit being held at Mangalore on November 3 and 4.         
            Haryana Government on the other hand will explore possibilities of providing land for setting up defence or aeronautical related offset projects to US based companies. Besides, the State Government will also find possibilities of mutual cooperation and support in auto-automotive and precision manufacturing industries.
            The Chief Minister said that State government is in the process of setting up of an international airport at Hisar and creating facilities for Maintenance,  Repair and Overhaul (MRO) shop for engine overhaul, avionics and complete overhaul of aircrafts. Bids have been invited for engaging an international consultant. Government has also signed an MoU with M/s Carrier Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Limited, a unit of United Technologies Corporation at Pratt and Whitney Plant, for setting up an additional plant for manufacturing air-conditioning devices in Gurgaon. He said that State government is also in the process of setting up University for Skill Development to enhance employability of youth.
            Mr. Manohar Lal shared with US Ambassador that his official-cum-business delegation recent visit to US was every purposeful and result oriented. He added that US based and Indo-American entrepreneurs were extremely responsive and evinced keen interest in investing in Haryana  as a result of which Haryana has received investment proposal worth Rs.10,000 crore which would help to create employment for 40,000 persons. Four MoUs were also signed during the visit, he added.
            The Chief Minister said that State Government had come out with a path breaking “Enterprises Promotion Policy-2015” with the objective to position Haryana as a pre-eminent investment destination. The thrust areas of the policy are auto, auto components and light engineering, electronics and IT/ITES, defence and aerospace manufacturing, renewable energy and solar parks, food processing and allied industry etc. He said that the policy aims to create employment opportunities to four lakh people in the state.
            Finance and Industries Minister Capt. Abhimanyu, Chief Secretary Mr. D. S. Dhesi, Additional Chief Secretary Town and Country Planning Mr. P. Raghvendra Rao, Director General Information, Public Relations and Cultural Affairs Department Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi and other senior officers of the State Government.
