Haryana CM receives QBR at Rohtak

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda received the Queen's Baton Relay as it reached Rohtak this evening. The Baton Relay was accorded a warm welcome in different parts of the State. A large number of old, young and children waving the Tri-colour welcomed the relay. Today it passed through Kurukshetra, Panipat, Karnal, Sonipat, Bhiwani and Rohtak district.
    While welcoming the Baton Relay, Mr. Hooda said that the Queen’s Baton Relay symbolized world peace, fraternity and brotherhood. The sports promote mutual co-operation and the progress in the field of sports depicts the progress of the state and the country, he said. He said that the Haryana is on three side of the Delhi so it was the duty of the state to look after the sports persons and the guest coming to participate in the Commonwealth Games. He said that 44 players from Haryana are representing the country in the Commonwealth Games.
 A number of national and international level sports persons participated in the day long relay. Lt. General Raj Kadiyan, Rajya Sabha M.P Mr. Shadi Lal Batra, HOA president Mr. P.V Rathi, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Dharmveer Singh, Political Advisor to Chief Minister Prof. Virender Singh, OSD Mr. Ravinder Hooda, MLAs Mr. Bharat Bhushan Batra, Mr. Anand Singh Dangi, Mrs Shakuntala Khatak and number of senior functionaries were also present on the occasion.  
Earlier, Member of Parliament, Sonipat Mr. Jitender Singh Malik received the Baton at Ch. Devi Lal Stadium, Gohana. Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Mr. Jaibir Balimiki, MLAs Mr. Jagbir Singh Malik and Shrikrishan Hooda, Deputy Commissioner, Sonipat, Mr. Ajit Joshi, Superintendent of Police, Sonipat Mr. K.K Rao and a number of national and international level players including Mr. Yogeshwar Dutt Sharma, Ramesh Guleia, Dhyan Chand Awardee Mr. Kuldeep Malik, Sitender Khewda were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering,  Ms Alka Lamba said that the baton would arrive at the 2010 Games opening ceremony on October 3, after visiting the other 70 nations of the Commonwealth and passing throught India, reaching millions of people to join the celebrations for the Games. Sonipat MP Mr Jitender Singh Malik honoured international players including Arjun Awardee Mr. Yogeshwar Dutt Sharma and Ramesh Guleia and Dhyan Chand Awardee Mr. Kuldeep Malik by presenting them with shawl and bouquet.
