CHANDIGARH, JAN 22
Haryana Power Distribution Corporations plan to install over 11,000 new distribution transformers, erect 80,000 poles, required length of cable, conductors and G.O switches all over the State at a cost of about Rs. 500 crore.
This was stated by Mr. V. K. Chaudhary, Director,(Operations), Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam at village Beeran near Bhiwani today after starting the programme of special maintenance, renovation and strengthening of the distribution system.
He said that under the prestigious ongoing programme to strengthen and renovate the power distribution  system all over the State, each village or urban ward would get at least one additional power distribution transformer eliminating the problem of overloading of the system.
He said that the Nigams have a schedule to complete the work in 900 villages during the month of January and in additional 900 villages and urban wards during the month of February. The schedule of work for the month of February will be prepared within next two days.
He said that ten per cent of the work would be completed during the month of January, next 10 per cent in February, 20 per cent in March, 20 per cent in April, 30 per cent in May and rest 10 per cent of the work will be completed during the month of June, 2013. Thus, power distribution system in all the 9000 villages and wards and HUDA sectors in urban areas will be maintained by the end of June, 2013.
Mr. Chaudhary said that the special maintenance programme for strengthening the system covers the works like tightening the loose conductor, replacement of all iron poles, erection of additional poles and conductor as per requirement, replacement of old and torn out conductor, maintenance and augmentation of transformers, etc.
With the completion of the special programme of maintenance and strengthening of the system, the complaints relating to power failure due to local system constraints are likely to reduce considerably. During this campaign, special camps will also be organized in the villages and urban localities to give connections and redress grievances on the spot.
He said  that the Discoms have decided to give power supply to villagers on urban mode, if they reduce aggregate technical and commercial losses on their feeders up to 25 per cent or below. This programme would be helpful to the villagers to qualify to get power supply on urban mode.He said that under this scheme, the Discoms offer to give domestic power supply to their consumers in villages on urban mode if they reduce the AT and C losses to 25 per cent in tranches in gradual manner. If they reduce one third of the existing AT andC losses above 25 per cent, supply to their village would be increased from present 11 hours a day to 14 hours a day. With the further one third reduction, they would be given supply for 17 hours a day. And, with achieving the level of losses up to 25 per cent, the village would be given domestic supply for 20 hours a day as, presently, is given in urban areas. For example, in case there are 55 per cent existing losses in a village, with the reduction in losses up to 45 per cent, the village will get supply for 14 hours a day, with the reduction up to 35 per cent, the village would get supply for 17 hours a day and with achieving the level of AT and C losses up to 25 per cent, the village would get domestic power supply for 20 hours a day.
Mr. Chaudhary said that to opt this attractive scheme of the Discoms, the villagers are required to ensure that each house in the village takes a regular power connection, all meters are relocated outside the houses on outer walls or poles and all damaged and old mechanical meters are replaced with new electronic meters.
He said that two 33 KV substations viz Khanak and Sagwan are likely to be commissioned during next month at a cost of Rs. five crore in Tosham Sub Division. Commissioning of the substations would benefit over two dozen villages by way of improved voltage and regular power supply. He said that two additional transformers, 20 poles and cable as per requirement would be added at village Beeran under the programme of special maintenance and renovation of the power distribution system.
Mr. S K Jindal, Chief Engineer also addressed the villagers.
