Memorial in memory of martyr Gursewak Singh

CHANDIGARH, JAN 5
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal said that a memorial in the memory of Garud Commando of Indian Air Force martyr Gursewak Singh would be set up at his native village Garnala in district Ambala. Besides, an institute, road or park would also be named after him so that his supreme sacrifice would always be remembered.
          Mr Manohar Lal was interacting with the media persons at village Garnala in district Ambala after paying tributes to martyr Gursewak Singh, Guard Commando of Indian Air Force, who made the supreme sacrifice while fighting terrorists at Pathankot in Punjab.  He said that as per the provision of the government, a family member of the martyr would also be provided government job according to the requirement or qualification.
            The Chief Minister also expressed condolences to the martyr’s father, Mr Succha Singh, Grandfather Mr Charan Singh, mother Amreek Kaur, wife Jaspreet Kaur and elder brother Hardeep Singh who were also present there. While interacting with the family members, the Chief Minister’s eyes filled with tears.
            The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi has created an atmosphere at international level against the terrorist forces and sensing that now they could not become successful in their motives, the terrorists were committing such heinous act out of disappointment and frustration. 
            In reply to another question, he said that Mr Gursewak Singh has laid down his life while fighting the terrorists and the sacrifice made by him would not go in vain. He said that it is exemplary that martyr father had also served the Army and now his elder brother is serving in Army and bravely discharging his duties.
            Earlier, the Chief Minister met the family members of Martyr and said that Mr Gursewak Singh has made the people of the State proud by sacrificing his life for the motherland.  He said that Mr Gursewak laid down his life while fighting the terrorists and the indomitable courage shown by him would definitely inspire lakhs of other youth to serve the country. He said that not only Haryana but the entire country is with the family and the State Government has decided to give financial assistance of Rs 20 lakh to the martyr’s family.  Apart from this, he also assured all possible support and cooperation of the State government to the family members of martyr.
            Health Minister, Mr Anil Vij  told the Chief Minister that Mr Gursewak was the first who identified the terrorists. He fought bravely and got the honour to laid down his life while fighting the terrorists. He said that martyrs brother Mr Hardeep Singh is posted in the 59 Engineering Unit of Army at Dharamshala and is committed to safeguarding the borders of the country.
            Haryana Minister of State for Mines and Geology Minister Mr Naib Singh Saini, MLA Mr Aseemm Goyal, Political Advisor to Chief Minister Mr Jagdish Chopra, Mrs Banto Kataria, wife of MP Mr Ratan Lal Kataria, BJP District President Mr Jagmohan Lal Kumar and other BJP leaders of officers of District Administration were also present on this occasion.
