Haryana CM announces special 'girdawari'

CHANDIGARH, MARCH 6
The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, today announced that special Girdawari in the areas where the crops had not been insured under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna, would be carried out to assess the crop loss due to the recent unseasonal rains in different parts of the state.
          The farmers who have insured their crops under the PMFBY would have to inform the insurance agencies through officials concerned about the loss within 48 hours.
          The Chief Minister was interacting with media persons shortly after inaugurating the two-day conference “Pratyaksh Kar Samagam” organized by the Income Tax Department of North-West Region at Panchkula, near here, today.
          He congratulated all office-bearers and workers of the BJP which is celebrating its 37th foundation day today.
          Answering a question, the Chief Minister said that Haryana ranked the highest tax paying state in the North-West region comprising Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Out of the total Rs 35,000 crore revenue generation from income tax in 2016-17, Haryana alone contributed Rs 19,000 crore. A hike of 20 per cent is expected in 2017-18.
          In reply to another question, the Chief Minister said the Income Tax Department should come up with a scheme to honour the highest tax payers as mentioned in the Budget speech of the Union Finance Minister, Mr Arun Jaitley.
          Asked to comment on the BPL survey, he said work on the survey would start in the next three months to ensure due benefit of different schemes to the eligible beneficiaries.
