Haryana adopts Collection of Statistics Act, 2008

The Haryana Government has adopted the ‘Collection of Statistics Act, 2008 (7 of 2009)’ by repealing the Collection of Statistics Act, 1953.
     While giving this information here today, a spokesman of Haryana Planning Department said that a notification has also been issued in this regard.
   He said that Director, Department of Economics and Statistical Analysis (DESA), Haryana has been designated as Nodal Officer for exercising powers and performing duties as contained in the aforesaid Act.
          The spokesman said that the Act is intended to facilitate the collection of statistics on economic, demographic, social, scientific and environmental aspects by Government at all levels, and for the matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
He said that every line department of the State Government would designate an officer in their respective Department dealing with statistical matters as coordinator to have regular interaction with DESA on all statistical matters.
