HAFED to procure sunflower seeds at 3750 per quintal

CHANDIGARH, JUNE 16
 In yet another initiative aimed at benefitting the farmers, Haryana Government has decided that Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited (HAFED) will start procurement of sunflower seed at Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs.3750 per quintal from June 18, 2015.
            While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that an agreement to this effect has been reached between HAFED and National Agriculture Cooperative Marketing Federation (NAFED) which is the central nodal agency for procurement of Sunflower seed on MSP. It is expected that around 5000 tonnes of sunflower seed would be procured in this season which will last till July 15, 2015. Last year, procurement had begun on June 25 and 3814 tonnes sunflower seed was procured.
            He said that necessary arrangements to procure entire crop conforming to fair average quality (FAQ) specifications would be  finalized in a meeting of the senior officers of Agriculture Department, Haryana State Agriculture Marketing Board and HAFED later this evening.
