HVSU to start Cyber Security Skill Development programme

CHANDIGARH, JULY 20
Haryana Vishwakarma Skill University (HVSU) has launched Cyber Security Skill Development programme, which would be run at the campus of YMCA University of Science and Technology, Faridabad from August 21 to September 30, 2017.
        This programme is aimed at students with technical (IT) proficiency who aspire to build their career in the domain of cyber security domain. The programme would include employability-oriented certification courses, including Certificate Course in Network Security and Certificate Course in Application Security.
        While stating this today, Vice-Chancellor, HVSU, Mr. Raj Nehru said that the first counselling and pre-assessment session for the programme, which has been launched in association with Skill Cube, a company engaged in cyber security skill development, was conducted at YMCA today for the selection and enrolment of students. More than 25 students have appeared for the entrance test.
The second counselling and pre-assessment session is scheduled to be held on August 9 at HARTRON, Gurugram and the final batch would start on August 21.
The Vice-Chancellor said that the selection process was divided into three parts with screenings at every level. Candidates had to register online, and had to appear for an hour-long pre-assessment test including an objective questionnaire during the selection. In the final round of selection, candidates would appear for personal round interview. The results would soon be declared on the website of the Universitywww.hvsu.ac.in.
He said that after the successful completion of a course under this programme, individuals would be awarded a joint certificate by HVSU and Skill Cube.
Mr. Nehru said that under the Certificate Course in Network Security, candidates would be able to acquire skills and understand concepts of network security, including need of security, router security, switch security, OSI model - 7 layers of OSI model, security protocols, and proxy server and reverse proxy. Similarly under Certificate Course in Application Security, the candidates would be able to acquire skills and understand concepts of application security, including application attacks, various security solutions, cloud security, vulnerability assessment, OWASP top 10 vulnerabilities and mitigation and web application firewalls.
He said that according to NASSCOM, there would be a projected shortage of one million cyber security professionals in India by 2020. The global shortage of cyber security professionals would reach six million by 2020 and today, around 53 per cent organisations struggle to find skilled cyber security professionals and their recruitment process takes as long as six months to find, induct and deploy professionals.
He said that the State Government was focusing on skill development of youth by offering employability-oriented courses. The HVSU is aligning the National Skill Qualification Framework with industry-aligned work study models, he added.
During the session, Founder and Managing Director, Skill Cube, Mr. Saurabh Agarwal, said that these in-depth courses would consist of classroom sessions, workshops on latest technology trends, guest lectures by industry professionals, hands-on laboratories, soft skills training, placement assistance and other linked activities. The USP of the courses is not limited to skilling students for making them industry ready, and the courses would assist them in securing the right placement, he added.
