Ludhiana-Delhi Shatabdi to run daily

Union Railway Minister Mallikaarjun Kharge has announced that Ludhiana-Delhi Shatabdi train will run on all seven days of the week and have a stoppage at Jind. At present this train runs twice a week.
The Union Minister was laying the foundation stone of Rohtak Railway Byepass line in Rohtak today. This byepass line will be in place of Rohtak-Makrauli section of the Rohtak-Panipat line, which passes through the city of Rohtak.
         Mr. Kharge said that with the shifting of this line, a third Rohtak-Samargopalpur line would be available which would facilitate straight route to Panipat. This will help the development of Rohtak city, because the earlier Rohtak-Makrauli line will be eliminated.
He appreciated the progress made by Haryana under the leadership of Chief Minister of Bhupinder Singh Hooda and said that the Haryana is a prosperous state producing sufficient foodgrains. Adequate railway network is required for transporting food grains, he said. He also thanked UPA Chairperson Mrs Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh for entrusting him with the responsibility of Railway Ministry and said that efforts are being made to improve the facilities for the railway commuters.
       The Chief Minister Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda thanked Mr. Kharge for laying the foundation stone of the first ever railway byepass of the country. So far there have been the road byepass projects only. He also thanked Mr. Oscar Fernandes, who had agreed to lay the foundation stone for the 4- lane project of Hisar-Delhi National Highway. Mr. Hooda said roads and railway lines are important factors for progress and today we have been obliged by both the Ministers. These projects will further boost the development of the State.
       Mr. Hooda said that in 1957, Rohtak-Panipat railway line was provided, with the efforts of his father Ch. Ranbir Singh and at that time Mr. Hanumantaya was the Railway Minister. He was from Karnataka and Mr. Kharge is also from Karnataka. He said that 34 years ago Rohtak-Bhiwani railway line was constructed at the time of Ch. Bansi Lal and after that no other rail project was considered for Haryana. Rohtak-Jhajjar-Rewari railway line was sanctioned in 1997, when he was MP. This railway line is operational now. The  work of Sonipat-Gohana-Jind railway line is in progress and the foundation stone for Rohtak-Meham-Hansi railway line is being laid today. In the railway budget of 2013-14, three railway lines Delhi-Mewat, Yamunanagar-Chandigarh and Jakhal-Fatehabad-Hisar have been sanctioned. Haryana Government is ready to provide its share for these lines and it is hoped that the work on these lines will soon commence. Haryana has also got Metro up to Gurgaon, work of Metro upto Faridabad is in progress and the foundation stone for Metro upto Bahadurgarh has been laid.
          Member Parliament Mr. Deepender Hooda thanked the Railway Minister and the Central Government for selecting Haryana for the first railway byepass project of the country. As compared to earlier 40years, a number of railway projects have been sanctioned for Haryana during last 3 - 4 years, he said. Three railway lines have been sanctioned in the rail budget of this financial year and a rail coach factory has also been earmarked  in Haryana. Putting up the demand on behalf of the people of Rohtak, Mr.Deepender urged Mr. Kharge to increase the frequency of Ludhiana-Delhi Shatabdi from five days to seven days of the week and also provide a stoppage of Shatabdi at Jind. He also cingulated the people of Rohtak and said that a new Mall road will be constructed in place of old Rohtak-Makrauli Railway line.
       Mr. Bharat Bushan Batra also thanked the Railway Minister on the behalf of the people of Rohtak for laying the foundation stone of Rohtak railway byepass line. He particularly thanked Mr. Deepender Hooda, who has made special efforts for getting the railway projects sanctioned.
       The General Manager Northern Railway Mr. V.K. Gupta and Railway Board Chairman Mr. Arunendra Kumar gave details about the new project of Rohtak railway byepass line. The new project will cost Rs. 181 crore. The alternative route of Rohtak-Samargopalpur will provide a third line between the two stations along the main line and a new platform at Rohtak. This will also eliminate a blind curve of two kms  and eight existing level crossing gates. A road will be developed in place of the old railway line from Rohtak to Makrauli. This will benefit about a dozen colonies.
        On this occasion, Union Road Transport and Highway Minister Mr. Oscar Fernandes,   Rajya Sabha MP Mr. Shadilal Batra,    MLA Kalanaur Mrs. Shakuntla Khatak,   Pradesh Congress President Mr. Phool Chand Mulana, Political Advisor to Chief Minister  Prof. Virender Singh, Chairman of Haryana Toursim Mr. Chakravarti Sharma and other local leaders were present.
