Haryana to celebrate ‘International Yoga Day’

CHANDIGARH, MAY 31
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal said that the State Government has decided to celebrate the ‘International Yoga Day’ on June 21 as ‘Yog Utsav’ in the State. Also, Start-up programme would be organized in Panchkula from June 12 to 14, 2016 where master trainers of Yoga would   imparted training as a part of the ‘Yog Utsav’.
          Mr Manohar Lal was reviewing preparations made for International Yoga Day celebrations through a video conference with all Deputy Commissioners in the State.    Haryana Health Minister Mr Anil Vij was also present in the meeting.
            The Chief Minister said that national level programme of International Yoga Day will be held in Chandigarh on June 21 in which Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi would be the Chief Guest.
          The Chief Minister also sought information from the Deputy Commissioners regarding the programmes to be organized at district and block level on the occasion of International Yoga Day. On this, the Deputy Commissioners apprised him that apart from 100 participants from each district that would participate in National Level Programme at Chandigarh, 5000 to 10, 000 participants of their respective district would take part in district level programme. All necessary arrangements have been made for the same.
          Mr Manohar Lal directed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure installation of big LED screens in their respective areas so that the people could also perform Yoga alongwith the Prime Minister and listen to him similar to the occasion of Panchayati Raj Diwas when all gram Panchayats had heard the speech of Mr Narendra Modi during the programme  “Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday”.  He said that with the concerted efforts of Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi,  Yoga has got recognition at international level. Like the previous year, the programme this year would also be telecasted world over.
          It was apprised in the meeting that Yoga Training Camps would be organized at Block Level in the State for Panches, Sarpanches, other elected representatives and administrative officers from June 1 to 3, 2016.
        Those ‘Yog Sadhaks’ who would make  outstanding performance during these training camps would participate in the National level programme to be organized in Chandigarh on ‘International Yoga Day’, June 21, 2016. It was also apprised in the meeting that Yog Guru Baba Ram Dev would also participate in the Yog Utsav to be organized in Faridabad on June 17. About one lakh participants from district Faridabad and Palwal are expected to participate in this programme.
          Health Minister Mr Anil Vij said that during last year, 5.70 lakh people   performed Yoga in the State simultaneously. As a result of this, Chandigarh has been chosen for the National Level Programme in which Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi would also perform yoga. More than 10,000 participants would represent Haryana in the National level Programme. He said that apart from ‘ Yog Sadhaks’ from all districts of the State,  Yoga trainers and Physical Training Instructors (PTIs) from Police , Education and Ayush Departments, students of schools and colleges, representatives of Non Government Organizations (NGOs) and other social organizations and  ‘Yog Sadhaks’ of Patanjali Yog Peeth and Bharat Swabhiman Trust would participate in this programme.
          It was informed in the meeting that, the Transport Department has made arrangement of 188 buses of Haryana Roadways to ferry the participants to Chandigarh. Yoga practice would be done with full preparedness on June 19. Adequate arrangements of boarding for the participants are being made by District Administration, Panchkula.
          Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr R.K Khullar, Additional Chief Secretary, Transport Department Mr S.S Dhillon, Additional Chief Secretary Higher Education Department Mr Vijai Vardhan, Additional Chief Secretary,  Finance Mr Sanjeev Kaushal,  Additional Chief Secretary, Information, Public Relations and Cultural Affairs Department Mrs Dheera Khandelwal, Director General Ayush Dr Saket Kumar, Commissioner of Police Ambala-Panchkula Dr R.C Mishra and Dr Jai Deep Arya, Patanjali Yoga Peeth, Haridwar and Member of Yoga Expert Committee, Ministry of Ayush and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
