Rs 2600 crore plan to develop Faridabad

CHANDIGARH, MAY 15
 Haryana Chief Minister  Manohar Lal  said that a Rs 2600 crore plan has been prepared for the development of Faridabad, which has been chosen under the national ‘Smart City’ campaign by the Union Urban Development Ministry.
        The Chief Minister was addressing the first Digital Rally of the country in Faridabad Saturday evening. Besides live broadcast on social media, the people at 15 different locations in Faridabad assembly constituency heard the Chief Minister’s address on LED screens.
        The Chief Minister said that Union Urban Development Minister, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu, was requested to include Faridabad in the list of next 20 cities to be announced under the Smart City programme. He said that this would accelerate the pace of infrastructure development in Faridabad this year. He said that if required, air taxi service would also be provided in Faridabad, Sonipat and Karnal in the next phase after its launch in Gurgaon.
        He said that the present State Government had checked corruption by promoting e-services. The Government was taking innovative steps to facilitate traders, farmers and other sections of the society through digital services. E-Biz portal was being developed so that traders could easily get new licence or clearance. Other innovations included a programme for farmers and   for issuing certificates by preparing a database of the 2.5 crore population of the State.
        The Chief Minister also announced several development projects for Faridabad constituency, including cycle track and other facilities on different roads, construction of two new ‘baaraat ghars’ for dhobi community at a cost of Rs three crore, scheme for drainage of storm water, Rs 1.5 crore for sewerage in Bharat Nagar Colony, construction of a ghat for Chhatt Puja and a new 50-bed  hospital, based on the availability of land. Other announcements included upgradation of ITI in Sector 12 at a cost of Rs 12.5 crore, Rs 10 crore for sewerage and other facilities, relocation of slum colony under a special campaign, Rs seven crore for installation of CCTV cameras in Faridabad assembly constituency and completion of all schemes to provide international-level facilities in Nahar Singh Stadium. He also announced Rs 20 crore for other development works in the constituency.
        Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. Krishan Pal Gurjar, said that under the leadership of Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, and Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, the Central and State Governments had, in the last 23 and 18 months, respectively, carried out development work at a rapid pace. He said that good governance had led to visible change. The Government was laying a strong economic foundation, as a result of which BSNL, which had always remained in the red, had shown profit of Rs 10,000 crore. Similarly, while National Highways were constructed at the rate of two kilometre per day during the reign of the UPA Government, these were now being constructed at a rate of 20km a day, he added.
        Haryana Education Minister, Mr. Ram Bilas Sharma said that due to the apathy of previous governments, big industries had moved out of Faridabad and the city had fallen behind in terms of development. However, the city would be restored to its previous glory, he added.
        Animal Husbandry and Dairying Minister, Mr. O.P. Dhankar said that A-2 cow’s milk would be supplied to the National Capital Region through a mobile application. A real-time tool would be developed at a cost of Rs 123 crore to monitor the status of canal water.
        Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Minister, Rao Narbir Singh said that for the first time, work was being carried out after preparing a work programme in the Department, under which all roads in the State would soon be made pothole-free. 
        State BJP President, Mr. Subhash Barala and State BJP In-charge, Mr. Anil Jain also spoke on this occasion.
        On the occasion, social welfare organisation Navchetna Trust adopted 31 destitute girls and undertook the responsibility of providing for their education, upbringing and up to their marriage.
        Shot putter, Mr. Inderjeet Singh, renowned singer and Brand Ambassador, Faridabad, Ms. Richa Sharma and sand artist, Mr. Nitish Bharti also attended the rally.
