Applications invited for post of State Information Commissioners

CHANDIGARH, SEPT 5
The Haryana Government has invited applications for two posts of State Information Commissioners in the State Information Commission latest by October 4, 2017.
          While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Administrative Reforms said that the State Government had constituted the State Information Commission under the Right to Information Act, 2005. The Act provides that the State Information Commissioner should be a person of eminence in public life with wide knowledge and experience in law, science and technology, social service, management, journalism, mass media or administration and governance.
          He said that the State Information Commissioner should not be a Member of Parliament or a Member of Legislature of any State or Union Territory or hold any other office of profit or connected with any political party or carrying on any business or pursuing any profession. The cessation or termination of holding of office of profit, pursuing any profession or carrying any business is a condition precedent to the appointment of a person as State Information Commissioner.
          He said that the State Information Commissioner would hold office for a term of five years from the date on which he enters upon his office or till he attains the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier. The salary and allowances payable to him would be the same as that of Chief Secretary of the State Government, subject to adjustment of the pensionary or retirement benefits availed by him, if any, in accordance with the provisions of the Act.
          He said that persons fulfilling the criteria for appointment as State Information Commissioner and interested for appointment to the posts may send their particulars in the prescribed proforma by post to the office of Principal Secretary, Administrative Reforms Department, Room No. 53, 8th floor, Haryana Civil Secretariat, Sector-1, Chandigarh. Persons serving under the State or Central Governments or any other organisation may send their particulars through proper channel, he added.
