Efforts to make Haryana tobacco free

CHANDIGARH, SEPT 14
With a view to making the state tobacco-free, the Haryana Health Minister, Mr. Anil Vij has approved the formulation of State Level Coordinating Committee (SLCC), which would be the nodal committee for implementation, monitoring and evaluation of tobacco control activities. Similarly District Level Coordinating Committee (DLCC) would be formulated to look after tobacco control activities in all districts.
        While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Health Department said that these committees would be responsible for carrying out key activities such as training of health and social workers, NGOs, school teachers and enforcement officers. These would also carry out Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities, organise school programmes to protect youth from evil of tobacco, monitor tobacco control laws, co-ordinate with Panchayati Raj Institutions for village-level activities and ensure setting up and strengthening of cessation facilities including provision of pharmacological treatment facilities at district level.
        He said that the State Government was taking firm steps to roll out tobacco control programme and activities throughout Haryana. World No Tobacco Day was observed in the state May 31, 2017. A high-level officials’ orientation workshop was organised on this occasion.

HSAMB DONATES 3 CR: Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB) donated Rs. three crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
          Principal Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Dr Abhilaksh Likhi and Chief Administrator, HSAMB, Mr Mandeep Singh Brar handed over a cheque of Rs three crore to the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal late last evening here.
