134 holy pilgrimages in Haryana to be renovated

CHANDIGARH, SEPT 28 
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal today announced to renovate 134 holy pilgrimages located in five districts of the state namely Kurukshetra, Karnal, Kaithal, Panipat and Jind, as described in Mahabharata, Ramayana and Vamana Purana. He visited all 13 holy pilgrimages in district Karnal today and announced development works amounting to about Rs 18.39 crore in these pilgrimages through Kurukshetra Development Board.
        Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that today was a historic day in his life as he had got the chance to visit pilgrimages associated with Mahabharata times. He said that the society, which preserve and promote its cultural heritage, passes on moral values to the young generation. He said that Haryana has glorious history especially of Kurukshetra where Lord Krishna delivered the celestial message of Bhagavad Gita. In 2016, the present State Government provided distinctive identity at international level to the Gita Mahotsav. Last year, about 24 lakh people from different states of the country and from more than 20 countries visited Brahmsarovar.
        Mr. Manohar Lal said that renovation of 14 pilgrimages in district Kurukshetra had already been announced and today, renovation of pilgrimages of district Karnal has been announced. Soon, renovation of pilgrimages in district Panipat, Kaithal and Jind would be announced. He said that two buses are being plied in district Kurukshetra for taking pilgrims to tour of the pilgrimages. He said that two special buses would be plied between Kurukshetra and Jind which would take pilgrims for two-day tour of pilgrimages in five districts falling in the radius of 48 Kos.
        He said that the development works in all pilgrimages would include construction of mahim patt, toilets, and separate ghats for women, construction of stairs for the convenience of pilgrims, construction of boundary walls, parking and installation of high mask lights.
        The Chief Minister visited vimalsar tirath, parashar tirath, vedwati tirath, vyas sthali, gautam rishi tirath, misark tirath, gavandhra tirath, daksheshvar tirath and gurdwara sahib, jamdagni tirath, dhankshetra tirath, dashashvamegh tirath, koti tirath and panchdev tirath. On the demand of villagers, the Chief Minister announced to name the Basthali sports stadium after the name of Maharshi Vyasa. Similarly, during his visit to Assandh, the Chief Minister announced, on the demand of people, to shift village Salwan from Bala Tehsil to Assandh Tehsil.
        During his visit to village Dacher, the Chief Minister was informed that he is the first Chief Minister to visit this village since the inception of this state. In order to provide 24 hour power supply to this village under ‘Mhara Gaon Jagmag Gaon’ Yojana, the Chief Minister asked the local youth to constitute a team which would give assurance to cooperate in checking power theft and reducing line losses. He said that recently the State Government had reduced the power tariff from Rs 4.5 to 2.5 per unit.
        He said that under Van Mahotsav this year, a target has been set to get planted 24 lakh saplings by students of classes VI to ten plus two till September 30. As many as 21 lakh saplings have so far been planted. The Chief Minister himself planted saplings at tiraths today.
