20 lakh saplings to be planted in Haryana

CHANDIGARH, JULY 16 
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal said that besides planting 20 lakh saplings  this year, efforts would be made to ensure their survival. He also called upon the people to plant at least one plant after the name of great personalities, grandparents, parents, teachers and take pledge for their survival.
          The chief minister was speaking in the State-Level Paudhgiri program organized jointly by Forests Department and District at Kurukshetra today. Earlier, the Chief Minister, Member of Parliament, Mr. Nayab Singh Saini, MLA, Mr. Subhash Sudha, MLA, Dr. Pawan Saini and other dignitaries distributed saplings to school students besides the Chief Minister gave the message of Paudhgiri to about 2,000 students and asked them to take resolve to protect the saplings for three years after planting them. Later, the Chief Minister flagged off the ‘Paudhgiri Chetna Rally’. Under this rally, the target of planting 90,000 plants in district Kurukshetra will be completed through school students.
          He said that last year, 24 lakh saplings were planted by the children studying in classes 6th to 12th under Paudhgiri program, but only 2.5 lakh plants could survive. In this season, the target has been fixed of planting 20 lakhs saplings in the Education Department and local office premises in the state. 
          The Chief Minister urged all the schoolchildren to take part in the plantation program. This program will be as exciting as games for children, and they will get its result in a few years. 
          Member of Parliament, Mr. Nayab Singh Saini said that the Chief Minister has taken a commendable step by starting the Paudhgiri Program from Kurukshetra. Planting maximum trees will help in maintaining the environment and it will also improve the depleting ground water level. Therefore, also children should plant more trees and ensure their survival.
          MLA, Mr. Subhash Sudha and MLA Dr. Pawan Saini also spoke on this occasion.
MONSOON SESSION:
 The monsoon session of the Haryana assembly will commence on August 2, 2019.
          This decision was taken today in the Cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, here today.
          Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Mr. O.P. Dhankar gave this information to media persons after the Cabinet meeting.
POST OF EIC BUILDINGS: The Haryana Cabinet which met under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal here today approved the proposal to create a new post of Engineer-in-Chief (EIC), Buildings.
          He will look after the works relating to buildings as well as Coordination and Court cases pertaining to Buildings.
          The Cabinet also decided that the existing post of Engineer-in-Chief, Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Department will be re-designated as Engineer-in-Chief, Roads who will look after the work of Roads and Bridges and Court cases relating to these two subjects and all the residual issues or works of the department.
          It has also been decided that Chief Minister will be authorised to allot the Establishment Work to any one of the two Engineer-in-Chief at any point of time and make him the Head of Department.
MUNICIPAL ACT AMENDED: Haryana Cabinet which met under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal here today approved amendment in Haryana Municipal Act, 1973.
          As per the amendment, the election of President in Municipal Councils and Municipal Committees will now be held directly by the eligible voters under the supervision and control of State Election Commission on the pattern of election of Mayors of Municipal Corporations. The provision has also been made in the Act that members of the House of the People and Legislative Assembly of a State will not have right to vote for the election and no confidence motion of the Vice President similar to the Corporation.
          Similarly, provision has been made to ensure atleast one session of Municipality of atleast three days once in every six months in addition to the existing provisions of monthly meetings as mentioned in section 25 of the Municipal Act. The Cabinet also approved section 52 of the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994, for the same purpose.
AFWD PROPOSAL APPROVED: The Haryana Cabinet approved the proposal of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department regarding transfer of land measuring 10 acres 2 kanal and 2 marla belonging to Haryana Agro Industries Corporation, Agro R and D Centre, Murthal to Maharana Pratap Horticulture University, Karnal at collector rate and existing assets at book value of Rs 2.90 crore for research and development in horticulture.
The Cabinet  approved the amendment in the proviso to section 4(4) of the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act,1994 by way of an Ordinance for conducting the elections of newly constituted Municipal Corporations within five years from the date of their constitution.
