Govt hospitals to have MRI, CT Scan facilities

By Haryananewswire
CHANDIGARH, FEB 21
All Government district hospitals in Haryana will have the facility of MRI as well as CT Scan, which would be available 24X7, free of cost to families below poverty line, unattended accident victims and other cases specified by the Chief Medical Officer. Haryana will be the first State in the country to provide this facility in all district hospitals through Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
While announcing this here today, Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that the equipment for this one-stop facility for MRI and CT Scan services would be installed under PPP mode. Instructions have been issued to initiate the process of inviting bids and establish MRI and CT Scan facilities at district hospitals within next six months.
The Chief Minister said that the rates charged for this service would be affordable, reasonable and the State Government would bear the differential in rate between the Government and the market rates. The operator will establish, maintain and operate this facility in the Government hospital and provide MRI and CT Scan services at rates fixed by the Health Department.
As per the rates fixed by the Health Department, Rs 600 would be charged for CT head, plain/contrast. Rs 1125 would be charged for CT body like spine/chest/abdomen/pelvis/PNS. Rs 2500 would be charged for MRI of single region.
The operator will provide quality services at pre-determined rates to all patients of the civil hospital and other private patients. Strict quality control will be observed and key performance indicators will be used to monitor the service provided by the operator. Overall control on the facility will be with the Chief Medical Officer of the district hospital. An ESCROW account will be opened in the district hospital to monitor the revenue from this facility. Third party quality assurance will be ensured by the Health Department.
The decision to introduce this facility in PPP mode was taken in a meeting of the Committee of Secretaries on Infrastructure chaired by Chief Secretary, Mr P. K. Chaudhery. The availability of the facility of MRI and CT Scan at every district hospital will provide immense benefit to the common man and improve his accessibility to secondary level health care facility at a nominal price.
