New campus of Central University of Haryana inaugurated

 The new campus of Central University of Haryana was formally inaugurated today at village Jant Palli in district Mahendergarh and its first convocation was organised in which 113 students were conferred degrees.
Though the President of India Mr Pranav Mukherjee was the chief guest in the University’s first convocation who could not reach because of unavoidable circumstances, so Governor of Haryana Jagannath Paharia inaugurated the new campus in village Jant Palli. He also awarded gold medals to the outstanding students. Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was also present in the convocation who presented PhD degrees to first researchers of the University.
While congratulating the recipients of the degrees, Mr Paharia lauded the development made by the Central University, Mahendergarh in a short span of time. Delivering Convocation Address at the first Convocation of the University, Mr. Pahadia said that since its inception in 2009, the University has expanded its academic programmes in a phased manner. It has acquired a respectable place among the major academic institutions of the State. He also appreciated innovative academic and social outreach initiatives launched by the University.
Addressing the august gathering, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that the State Government is committed to provide access to quality higher education on equitable basis. For this all efforts are being made in the spheres of academic development, including manpower, infrastructure and budgetary allocation. At present there are 36Universities in the State including 14 Private Universities. Rajiv Gandhi Education City is being established by the State Government will be having world class institutions including National Law University which will be a State funded University and will be raised with Government grant of about Rs.138 crores.
 He expressed happiness that the  Gross Enrolment Ratio(GER) in Haryana is about 27.9 percent as compared to the National GER of 20.4 per cent. By 2020, the number of students receiving higher education in the State are expected to become more than double, he said.
Complimenting and congratulating the graduating students, Mr. Hooda called upon them to take up the challenge of  global competition. Be innovative and enterprising in spirit to move forward in pursuit of higher goals, he said.
Mr. Hooda appreciated the progress made by the Central University in a short period and expressed belief that the University will become a Center of Excellence in organizing advanced studies and research.
Education Minister Mrs Geeta Bhukkal said that the State Government under the leadership of the Chief Minister Mr Hooda is making all endeavors to make Haryana a hub of international education. The Government would like this University to become one among the best 200 universities of the world. She called upon the University to give education to the youth, which is matching the requirements of the society.
Earlier the Vice Chancellor of the University Maj. Gen. (Dr.) Ranjit Singh welcomed the Governor, the Chief Minister and other dignitaries and said that with the shifting of the Permanent Campus of the University to Jant-Pali, it is all set to emerge as a potential centre of higher education. In 2009, it started with two Schools- School of Language, Linguistics, Culture and Heritage and the School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, with three Department of study. Presently, there are six Schools with twelve functional Departments. He also spoke about the outreach activities of the University with the objective of holistic development of the surrounding localities.
The Chancellor of the University MP Singh proposed vote of thanks.
The Governor and Chief Minister also inaugurated ‘Innovation Exhibition’ in the University permanent campus at Jant Palli. They interacted with those who exhibited their equipments in the exhibition.
Those present on this occasion included the area Haryana Health Minister Rao Narender Singh, MP Mrs Shruti Chaudhary, Chief Parliamentary secretaries Rao Daan Singh and Mrs Anita Yadav, Political Advisor to CM Prof. Virender Singh, Founder Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. Mool Chand Sharma, VCs of some other universities, Haryana Chief Secretary S C Chaudhary, DGP SN Vashistha, IG Satparkash Ranga, DC Narnaul Atul Kumar, SP Jagat Singh Hooda, the academic staff and the students of the University, besides others.
