The President Mr Pranab Mukherjee said that Mr Jagannath Pahadia has seen independent India unfolding itself and how democracy has taken its roots in the country. Dr Karan Singh also has been an eye witness to the resurgence of India since accession of Jammu & Kashmir State to India. Mr Mukherjee said that Mr Pahadia has had the blessings of leaders like Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, Mr Lal Bahadur Shastri, Mr Kamraj, Maulana Azad, Mr Morarji Desai and Mr Jagjivan Ram.
At the age of 25, Mr Pahadia became member of second Lok Sabha in 1957. Later, he was again elected for fourth, fifth and seven Lok Sabha. He remained Union Minister, Chief Minister of Rajasthan and Governor of Bihar and now he is Governor of Haryana. He has always discharged his responsibility with honesty, sincerity and commitment. He congratulated Mr Pahadia for writing the book of memoirs and said that his life has been eventful. He also congratulated Smt Shanti Pahadia, wife of Mr Jagannath Pahadia for providing all help and support to Mr Pahadia.
Dr Karan Singh, while congratulating Mr Pahadia on escaping the tragedy of plane crash on 27th March, said that it was all due to the grace of almighty. Dr Karan Singh said that the life of Mr Jagannath Pahadia is the story of democracy of India. He had contacts with great leaders in the country. He became MP, Union Minister, Chief Minister and Governor. Having been born in a poor family, walking miles for going to school and facing all the struggles to reach this level, definitely reflects the strength of Indian culture and values.
Mr Jagannath Pahadia said that this is a moment of pride for me that the book of an ordinary person like me has been released by a personality like Dr Karan Singh and its first copy has been presented to President of India. On the insistence of family members and friends, I started documenting various memoirs and presented different personal, social, economic and political events, as I saw them, he said. Keeping before me the ideal of Nehru Ji and Gandhi Ji - equal respect for all, it has been my endeavour to always help the poor, the needy and the backward people. Whatever I have got in life is more than my expectation and wish. I hope my memoirs will be liked by the readers and if at all they are little bit useful for them, I will feel that my effort at writing is successful. Mr Pahadia expressed gratefulness for the encouragement given by Mr Mukherjee. He also thanked Dr Karan Singh for releasing the book as well as for writing the foreword of the book.
The noted journalist Mr Ved Pratap Vaidik said that various events have been described in the book, as they happened. This simplicity has given depth to the writing.
The CEO of Publishing Company S. Chand, Mr Amit Gupta thanked the President Mr Pranab Mukherjee, Dr Karan Singh and other dignitaries present in the function and said that it is a matter of pride for us for having published this book.
The function was conducted by Dr K.K. Khandelwal, Principal Secretary in Haryana Government. This book is the story of struggles, self confidence and courage of Mr Jagannath Pahadia, he said.
