The Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping, Mr Nitin Gadkari, today put a pat on the back of the Haryana Government and announced that intelligent transport system would be started on NH-8 and a new access control highway would be constructed between Delhi and Jaipur, enabling the commuters to cover the 270-km distance in just two hours.
Speaking in Gurgaon after laying the foundation stone of work on improvement of three junctions on NH-8 in Gurgaon, costing Rs 1,005 crore, Mr Gadkari said that the work would be completed in 15 months time instead of the originally planned 30 months. The stone-laying ceremony for improvement of three important junctions on NH-8 was organized in Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex, Sector-38, Gurgaon.
Putting a pat on the working of the Haryana Government, Mr Gadkari said, "Haryana has become a growth engine as it has industries in IMT. Under the leadership of Mr Manohar Lal, Haryana is progressing at a faster clip and the Narendra Modi Government is strongly supportive of the Manohar Lal Government".
Detailing the intelligent transport system, he said that CCTV cameras would be installed on NH-8 to keep a close watch on the traffic movement, especially the violators. Everyone will have to follow the traffic rules and the violators would be made to cough up penalty.
Referring to the new access control highway to be constructed between Delhi and Jaipur, Mr Gadkari said it would enable the commuters to cover the distance of 270 kilometers in just two hours. This highway will cost Rs 16,000 crore and work will be started in January, 2017. Land acquisition for the new highway will be started soon. He suggested to the Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, to promote development along both sides of the highway to bring down the cost.
Mr Gadkari said that four underpasses and four flyovers would be constructed to make the traffic movement seamless and signal-free. The three major junctions are IFFCO Chowk, Signature Tower Chowk and Rajiv Chowk. Timeline for completion of the project was 30 months but Mr Gadkari has reduced it to just half and directed the authorities to complete in 15 months
Expressing concern over the problem of traffic jams faced by the commuters in Gurgaon, Mr Gadkari said that they had been experiencing traffic jams for several years, and work on the Delhi-Jaipur highway had got stalled due to the cases lying pending in various courts.
After coming to power, the BJP Government solved all these issues and resumed the construction work on NH-8. People had to suffer for the misdeeds of others. Unveiling plans to ensure seamless flow of traffic on NH-8, he said that work on the flyover at IMT Manesar Chowk would be completed soon.  Mr Gadkari also gave the assurance that work on the Dwarka Expressway had commenced and it would be completed shortly.

These bye-passes would be constructed in a record time of 400 days out of which 100 days have already elapsed. "I am constantly monitoring this project. He demanded construction of a U-Turn at the old toll barrier in Sarhaul for going towards Ambience Mall. Now, the commuters are forced to take a U-Turn from the Rajokari flyover on NH-8.
