Haryana Govt sanctions 1724 posts for 21 women police stations

The Haryana Government has sanctioned 1,724 posts of different categories for all the 21 women police stations in the State so as to further strengthen these police stations.
          While stating this here today, Finance Minister Capt. Abhimanyu said that the Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal is very much concerned about the safety of the people, especially the women.
          Mr Abhimanyu said that each of the 21 districts have one women police station. Referring to the total posts sanctioned for these police stations, he said that these included 20 posts of Lady Inspector, 129 posts of Lady Sub Inspector, 250 posts of Lady Assistant Sub Inspector, 396 posts of Lady Head Constables, 786 posts of Lady Constables and 143 posts of Class-IV including cook, water carrier, sweeper and mali.
          He said that while one post of Lady Inspector has been sanctioned for each of the 21 women police stations. The number of Lady Sub Inspectors in these police stations would vary between five and ten. Similarly, there would be a minimum of eight and maximum of 16 posts of Lady Assistant Sub Inspectors and the number of Lady Head Constables would be between twelve and 24. Also, there would be a minimum of 18 and maximum of 48 posts of Lady Constable that have been approved for these police stations.
          The Finance Minister said that the present State Government has taken effective steps to further strengthen the infrastructure in women police stations. Fifty PCRs and 100 scooties have already been announced for these police stations. Apart from this, women police volunteers would be appointed in every village in the districts of Karnal and Mahendergarh in the first phase. These volunteers would assist the police in maintaining proper coordination with the people, he added.
          He said that with a view to boost the morale of women police personnel, it has been decided to celebrate Mahila Police Diwas every year on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. He said that this year, the State level function of Mahila Police Diwas was organized at Panchkula on August 17, where the Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal announced a number of incentives for the welfare of police personnel. These included increasing the amount of ex-gratia being given to police personnel, who lay down their lives in the line of duty, from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 30 lakh, and for those seriously injured from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh. Apart from this, the Chief Minister also honoured four women police personnel by presenting them with medals for their outstanding performance in tackling crime against women in the last one year. The present government has adopted a transparent procedure for recruitment in Police Department under which only five marks have been kept for the interview, he added.
