Singapore PM shows keen interest in Industrial development in Haryana

tThe Singapore Prime Minister, Mr Lee Hsien Loong, today visited Gurgaon in Haryana and evinced keen interest in the industrial development of the area and future projects of urbanisation.
          The Prime Minister of Singapore who is leading a delegation, also met Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda in Gurgaon and he apprised Mr Loong about various developmental strides taken by the State.
          Mr Loong visited different places in Gurgaon and was quite impressed with the development that Gurgaon has made. Mr Loong was informed about various works done for the improvement in infrastructure in Gurgaon.
          The members of the delegation led by Mr Loong were also apprised about Gurgaon-Manesar Development Plan-2031 and other development works, especially public transport system
          Mr Loong was informed that Gurgaon has already been connected with Delhi metro and in the near future metro rail service would be extended upto Manesar. At present, with a view to facilitate the residents of Gurgaon, the work on rapid metro rail line was in progress. He expressed satisfaction over the manner in which it was being developed and was happy to know about the future projects of Gurgaon.
          Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda informed them that Haryana, despite being an agrarian State, has emerged as one of the developed industrial economies in the country. During last seven years, the average annual growth rate was 9.4 per cent and it covered only 1.3 per cent of the total area of the country. It contributes about 3.4 per cent of the national Gross Domestic Product. Haryana ranks at the top in per capita investment and except Goa, it was ahead of other States in per capita income. He said that the State Government had been focusing on development of world-class infrastructure so as to promote industry. The State Government was also laying emphasis on improving connectivity, improved supply of electricity and augmentation of water supply. He also apprised the Prime Minister about the 135 kms long Kundli-Manesar-Palwal expressway and expansion of Metro in Gurgaon.
          He said that work was in progress to provide metro service in Faridabad. Also, metro rail service has been sanctioned for Bahadurgarh. Rapid rail would run upto Panipat, added Mr Hooda.
          The Chief Minister also apprised him about Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor project, adding that it has immense potential for investment. He said that the industrial infrastructure was being strengthened by setting up new IMTs, industrial estates, food parks and IT parks. He said that the implementation of Industrial and Investment Policy-2011 has given a big boost to investment in the State. The procedures for setting up of industrial units have been simplified and made transparent to facilitate the entrepreneurs.
          Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation and Managing Director, Mr Amitabh Kant made a presentation on the project and said that this 1500 kms long Corridor would pass through Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. He said that many smart cities were being developed in these six States in addition to Manesar-Bawal region.
          Those present on the occasion included Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr Chhatar Singh, noted industrialists Mr Sunil Bharti Mittal and Mr K. P. Singh and other senior officers of the State Government.
