Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU)Hisar will organise a two-day Krishi Mela at Hisar on September 9 and 10.
CCSHAU Director Extension Education and Convener of Mela, Dr. R. S. Antil today said that Vice-Chancellor, Dr. K. S. Khokhar, will inaugurate the Mela, while Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Maj. Gen. Dr. Shri Kant will be Guest of Honour on the occasion.
He said that the focus of the Mela would on acquainting farmers with the technologies which apart from increasing the production of rabi crops were also cost effective and helped conserve the natural resources.
It may be mentioned that this is a much awaited event for the farming community as thousands of farmers from Haryana and adjoining states throng the Krishi Mela every year.
Dr. Antil futher further said that, in the Mela, the farmers would have the opportunity to purchase certified seeds of recommended varieties of ensuing rabi session crops at the seed sale counters to be set up at the venue. Besides, farm literature and biofertilizers would also be available to them at the venue.
He said an agro-industrial exhibition showcasing new and useful farming technologies by the CCSHAU and private sector would be another attraction of the Mela.
The visiting farmers, he said, would be shown the bumper kharif crops raised by the scientists at the research farm of the university. Besides, the facility to get samples of field soils, water and diseased plants tested would be available in the Mela. Buzz sessions would be held on both the days to give an opportunity to the farmers to interact with the varsity scientists and find solution to their farming and livestock related problems, he added. Further, some progressive farmers of the state would be honoured on the occasion. For the entertainment of the farmers, a cultural programme by renowned Haryanvi singar Mahabir Guddu and party will be performed.
